he falls out of normal beds when getting up in the morning and crawls onto normal beds on his hands and knees to go to bed as they are too high for him!
Can you not have just put a matress on the floor and then he would not hurt himself if he falls out.
Depending on the conditions in the house this could result in mould growing on the underside of the mattress (from warm moisture from body condensing on cold floor), better to have an air space underneath.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Well done for getting the family fund in. I never knew about it until just under 3 years years ago - my friend had found out from her friend. My daughter was 14 and diagnosed aged 7. I'd really struggled financially over the years, so was truly grateful that i could apply for help to give her things she really needed. I wish i'd been told about them sooner - i'd have thought at least one of the many health professionals she'd had contact with over the years would have mentioned it!!
I've now had 2 payments and never been asked to produce receipts........yet!!0 -

Ah thanks Mitchy. I did the sensible thing and waited for them to approve and send a comet card instead. I got him an XBox Kinect and he loves it! The Game that came with it is fantastic and he can actually do the moves (albeit clumsily). Its wonderful to watch him play, I could watch for hours although he can only tolerate about 30 mins max at a time as its makes him really tired! It is definitely going to be a major help with his co-ordination difficulties though.
I have also bought him a normal XBox game (Toy Story 3) and we have had great fun together on that. He cant manoevre the controls at all, but loves to sit and watch me do it and shout out what I need to do as I play (he asked to do it that way after trying and failing epicly to work it)! and I get him to press command buttons wherever possible so that he feels much more involved. I think he thinks its like a movie I can control for him!
So far its been excellent, bringing us together, giving him something to do when he's not up to going outside and I can really see the theraputic value of this thing - its amazing!
Am so grateful to FF for allowing him to have it! I have written them a thank you letter for everything we got with this years reward and want to say thank you to all of you for the positive thoughts and advice you gave within this thread! Thank you MSE'ers!0
