Family fund - can i use vouchers for something other than what they were awarded for?

My DS was very kindly awarded 250 in argos for a bed (which seemed like an awful lot to begin with).
He wanted a car bed which was well within reach of the voucher amount. However, yesterday a friend gifted us with the exact same bed as a surprise!
Great I thought, I can ask FF if I can use the 250 argos card for something else. In this case a Wii console and games (OT has always maintained that due to DS's difficulties, a Wii would be therapeutic - plus loads of fun! lol) and I just cant afford one otherwise.
Having spoken to FF they have said that it is likely I can exchange the vouchers for a Wii but they do games consoles though Comet not Argos. Having looked at the difference in prices and what I'd get for the vouchers, Argos is by far the clearer winner as Comet is so expensive that buying games to play would almost be ruled out with the voucher - so yes a Wii but nothing to play on it!
My question is... what if I just used the vouchers at Argos anyway to get a Wii, Would I get in trouble with FF?

No idea about family fund but Xbox Kinect is way way better than Wii :-)"Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0

You are incredibly lucky to be granted funds by Family Fund, and to use them for something other than what they were intended for is plain rude. If they will be good enough to let you have a Wii, even through a different retailer, be grateful for what you are given and stop trying to profit from the situation.Gone ... or have I?0

i think the family fund can ask to see receipts...might make it difficult if u want to apply to them againonwards and upwards0

you have to use them for what they were intended -in the paperwork it says they may request to see the reciepts up to 12 months after the award. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Ah - I expected you might make this sort of a comment. Do you just troll and comment just to make others lives miserable?? - pretty much all your comments I see on others threads seem to suggest just that!!!
I am not trying to "profit" from anything!!! I am asking a question simply to make the most of the generosity I have received in what is otherwise a grim existance! I am doing nothing that is not above board as you will note from my original post, I have already approached family fund and they have said there is not going to be a problem in exchanging the vouchers, therefore I already have approval FROM THE FAMILY FUND ITSELF to use the vouchers for something that other than they were originally intended for!!!! If I had not posted that, it might be perceived that I was ungrateful and was trying to get away with something however, that is not the case! Yes, its a free reward and yes I am extremely grateful to them, I would just like to find a way of getting the best out of the vouchers as this sort of gift comes my way rarely!
Also, as it happens, it states on the paperwork that it is always an option to change your vouchers for another use and from what I know from other FF recipients it is quite common - so I do not appreciate you trying to make out that I am ungrateful, rude, or trying to get away with something I shouldnt! Quite frankly, you dont know me, my situation or my how life runs so to make such personal accusations is well.... disgusting actually!!!
So unless your comment is going to be constructive, I ask that you refrain from commenting on this or any other thread I may post in the future!0 -
Hand the vouchers backs and go and buy a luxury item games console out of your own money like parents do.
Sorry but I think it's disgraceful.0 -
