I cut up old tea towels and they have 1001 uses :) Once even they are past it, they can then be composted :T

I then have microfibre cloths for polishing.

I just stopped buying it one day it's so expensive!

For windows I use a microfibre cloth, it really works well also I've thrown it in the washing machine and it's been fine (pack of 3 in Asda £1 and they have different purposes). I use another one for kitchen units and another for washing the windowsills, tables and probably dusting.

They're all washable and I find that when I have bought a pack for say cooking I end up using it for everything. Once you ditch it you'll be amazed at how useless and costly it is.

Mirrors and glass I use old newspaper. For other surfaces I use cotton dishclothes whcih are washed an resused. I also have a few old teatowels that get used for muckier ktichen roll jobs -such as floor spills etc.

i use a tea towel for my windows and a cloth for my mirrors ect, i do still buy kitchen roll tho because i like to use it t dry oil off hm chips but i buy 4 rolls for £1 in iceland then i hide them so oh can't use them to clean spills/blow his nose/clean the kids hands and faces, i'm also forever telling him off for cleaning the kids faces with baby wipes seriously it would only take him a 2nd more to get a face cloth

I agree, I like microfibre for other cleaning jobs but newspaper reigns supreme for mirrors and windows IMO. I also like the cheaper smaller weave undoubled dishclothes for cleaning. I have lots of teatowels, and despite nt having kids I have some reusable nappies...my mother still has my old ones and they make brilliant cloths...thinner than cut done old towels and easier for little jobs.

How do people wash their cloths and teatowels? I don't like to wash household cloths with other things so I bung them in a bag to save them up for washing but it takes weeks to get enough for a full load, especially as we have a 7kg machine now. Once the bag went all mouldy and I had to throw the lot away. So I tend to use kitchen roll and disposable wipes but I know this is wasteful.

I split my wash into darks and lights :) No special wash for kitchen cloths (or knickers, come to that :rotfl: ).

i stopped buying kitchen towel and use a damp microfibre cloth to go over the window then a dry one to wipe it off, it takes half the time, there is no rubbing for hours to get streaks off. I also use one of the baby's old muslins for draining home made chips and things like that, its a big wide one that I had free but never used.
