B&Q are selling rolls of loft insulation (£13.98 each) on buy one, get one free.
This is double money saving: buy the insulation at the offer price, line your loft and wait for the savings on your heating bills!
We've (okay, my OH!) just double insulated our four-bed detached house for around £150 which without the offer would have cost around £300.
Hope this helps someone!

If you buy the 100 size roll, check your receipt as they told me this was not in the sale. Because they were so big I had to do several trolleys and they told me this after I had got the first lot through by the bloke over-riding the till. I went back to him and he did it again for me, but just make sure before you drive away. There are three ways to get something done; do it yourself, hire someone or forbid your kids to do it.0

Homebsae Loft Insultion is 3 for 2 and their rolls are priced at £9.49 for the 100size and £10.49 for the 150 and 200 size. All sizes are included in the 3 for 2. Dont forget to use your spend and save card for extra savings.0

The big £28 rolls were in the offer at B&Q..
I bought two rolls of 100mm thickness , then went back a week later to buy some more. They then said only the 160mm thickness was in the offer
The bigger rolls are much better value than the £13 spaceblanket rolls. You get much more coverage for your money. The 100mm thickness rolls covered 14m2 for £28 ( But as its BOGOFF you cover 28 square metres for under £30)
Wickes were selling the same big rolls at two for £300 -
I went to B&Q today and there were not any offers (BOGOF) available. I also went to Homebase and they had only a couple rolls left and they will be discontinuing the offer. Typical.0

Why not just get a professional loft insulator to do it for you with a grant? Our house cost about £200 to be done and that included lagging all the pipes in the loft and even the back of the loft hatch.0

I've done just that! After I got home from B&Q I contacted the Local Energy Saving Organisation and they will send a surveyor (free survey) to look at the house. I'm looking at getting both loft and cavity wall insulation done. There is a grant available in my area that expires on the 31st december so I'm hoping it will be done soon.
The reason why I considered doing it myself was purely for cost considerations. I could have insulated the loft for only £60 on the Homebase offer and it's just a case of rolling it into the joists.0 -
Well the company that did out loft insulation advised us that if we did it ourselves the materials alone would cost about four times more then without the grant.
It's not a job i'd like to do myself if I can help it. The guy that did ours was gone within a couple of hours but i'm sure it would've taken me at least a day and if you get the stuff on your skin or breathe it in...yuck.0 -
where did you get the grant from ? do you have to be on some sort of benefit or something ?
Our loft will need doing soon so I'd like to take advantage but in Staffordshire unless you're claiming benefits or something then you have to pay for it yourself.0 -
Becksy666, Clink on the link below to see what grants are available in your area. If you are on certain benefits you can get both loft insulation and cavity wall insulation fitted free. It's also worth checking your local council's website. You should be able to get a grant of up to 50% off the costs if you do not have benefits.

These peple did our loft. I'm sure they'd cover your area too.
Oh yeah, and i'm not on any benefit. In fact far from it. So if I can get a grant i'm sure anyone can who lives in a fairly typical sort of non-mansion type house.0
