In all my carpet cleaners i`ve used just about everything :D

In the vax i used to use bio washing powder mostly, in the bissel that i have now i use startdrops and vinegar. If its only a quick onceover to freshen the rugs up i use just stardrops but remember that the vinegar is antibacterial as well so is a good choice, you may get a very faint whiff of a vinegar smell but that will evaporate as it dries completely.

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
  • do be careful as my Rapide specifically states that AAA solution must be used. I'm not saying not to use anything else but be aware that it may well void your warranty if you use an alternate product.

I was just going to say the same, if it is in warranty you need to use the vax recomended AAA solution, it is sold in Commet and other stores.
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

  • I read the threads and I am suprised none have tried ebay for the stuff. I just got 6 * 1 ltr bottles for £14 + post. This will last me ages. It is the right stuff for the Vax machines.

sorry to bring up an old thread but if you use washing up liquid do you just add a couple of drops to water and use that as a solution?
  • Hi there

We bought a Vax Rapide Ultra last weekend, and with it you got a bottle of cleaner for it. When we looked at the price of the cleaner it's about £16 a bottle. Now with 2 doggies we are going to go through quite a bit

Does anyone have any suggestions for what we could use instead. You have to put the cleaner with water in a tank thing so i don't want anything that's going to bu**er the machine up

    Help!!!

  • Could be a good idea to read the article on the Woolsafe orginisations website - search for Woolsafefe Nws 2009-1

The article is about using washing up liquids on carpets and warns that there can be problems

If you use Stardrops make sure you rinse it out really well. I used it on permanent pen and it got it out brilliantly but whilst I rinsed it out (water no soap setting) in the living room I didn't have time to do the same on the hall carpet - we now have a dark stain on a cream carpet which has developed over time:(
