Kaspersky Mobile Antivirus 9.0 Trial Version From OVI Problems.

A while ago I downloaded the trial version of Kaspersky Mobile 9.0 from Nokia OVI wbsite, I did not use it very much and found it annoying when it scanned when I wanted to use my phone. I decided to uninstall the software, a simple task I thought, how wrong I was.

When I tried to uninstall it I was asked for a pass word, I didn't remember setting up a password and checked all my records to see if I had noted it down in the handset manual. This is something I do for each handset but there was no record of it. I sent an e-mail to Kaspersky and waited for a reply. I then Googled the problem and to my surprise I was not alone, there were many that had posted with the same problem even on Kaspersky's own forum.

I received a reply which placed the blame on me for forgetting the pass word and advising that I contact Nokia. I have replied bringing it to their attention that it was not a one off complaint. The reply I received was such:

'We have tested this thoroughly, and there is no way to complete the install without setting up a secret code.'

Surely we cant all suffer from amnesia, one person yes but not this many.

It show's that there is no such thing as a freebie!!

Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

    Odd that according to the Beta testers it must have a code input .

    Also users are saying that they have forgot the code lost it etc .

    Suppose you have started the trial version .

    I wonder if its an Ovi market/\Nokia special package with no code/or a single code .

    @JJEgan,

    I have not seen many where the poster has said that they have forgotten the code.

    Your first thought is 'I have forgotten the code!'. In my case I always make in note of all passwords or codes in the handset manual, have done since my first handset years ago. It was only when I read other forums where too many posted that they were not asked for a code when installing from the OVI site, that I was sure that I had not also.

    Kaspersky have many threads on their own forum with the same problem yet they deny something is not right. I find it hard to understand how they can when the proof is on their own web site, or it was yesterday! :cool:

    I suppose that is the drawback if you don't pay for software, then again Kaspersky have some bad posts in general. They seem to not be bothered or perhaps we are all wrong!

    Like this forum good use does not merit a post . I dont post every day and say xxx is the bees knees .

    No i did not think you had forgot your code what i did imply reading the last twelve months of posts that their may have been an problem with the Ovi product and possible a special key /no key .
    Thats mainly as i see the majority if not all posters as Nokia users .

    What do Nokia/Ovi the suppliers of the product say .

    What about the Nokia user forum ??

    Free is the same product in this case as paid for .

    @JJEgan,

    I did not think that you had implied that I had forgotten the code (Although to start with I thought I must have) it seemed clear that it was a general remark.

    You are correct in saying that nearly all seem to be Nokia users, this software is not only availble from the Nokia OVI site but many others as a free trial.

    Nokia have been very good and have answered very quicky requesting more personal info, IEMI etc. I've had one posted reply on the Nokia forum pointing out another thread that had been posted regarding the same problem.

    I have chased up Kaspersky again as they ignored my last e-mail when I doubted their statement denying that the software can be installed without a code.

    I'll keep this thread updated on any development.

    Nokia have replied before I had a chance to post this, they have advised a Soft Reset or a Hard Reset and have given clear instructions of what to do and what not do. Well done Nokia for a good service I hope it works!

    Problem solved! :j :j :j

    Well done Nokia.

    Hard Reset *#7370# restore completely to factory settings. Sadly removes all data, so back up, including Kaspersky Mobile Antivirus 9.00 :j:j:j

    Just to add, the Soft Reset *#7780# does not remove any data or added software.

    @JJEgan,

    Thanks for your input, it was much appreciated.

    Good but it should not happen that so many even if they are Nokia users did not get a real reply from the kaspersky forum .

    Never happened with any query on KIS or KAV for me .

    So are you putting it back on to see if it does ask for a code ???

    @JJEgan,

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Ho, ho, ho........

    I even got a sarky e-mail from Ms McParland of Kaspersky, who I been exchanging e-mails about the problem, when I informed her what good service I had received from Nokia in helping to uninstall/delete the software.

    Kaspersky are real pro's, I must use their products again.:eek: :eek: :eek:

    I only hope that lots of people read this thread to stop them making the same mistake.

    The old saying: You pay 'peanuts' and you deal with 'Monkey's' or in this I think it is more like 'Cowboys'
