Hi all,
I purchased a 2 bed terraced (modern- mid 80's) last year which you access by walking down a snicket and then down some stairs.
My question relates to the parking. I do not have a drive- I have a garage sized plot of land in a 'parking area' which is situated at the top of the snicket. It only takes about 20 seconds to walk from the car to my house and I do actually own the land it's not 'communal'
I like the property and plan to do a few things over the next few years but I all ready yearn for a bigger house!
The area is a very quiet village location- so prices hold up well. I bought the property for £85,950.
I do wish I would have bought a house with a drive (as some terraced have if accessible directly by road) but then again I could have in a worse location.
So, ultimately the question is; will this put buyers off? if so- will it put everybody off?
The only reason I wish to move (in future) will be because want more space. It is a very nice location so this should support it's sale- I just hope this would not put someone off from buying?
Can I have some honest replies on whether it would put them off and how to potentially reduce it being a problem(obviously potential buyers as two people on 100k each a year would not usually got for a 2 bed terrace)
regards
bw

Terraced properties don't usually have allocated parking so I can only see this as a plus point - I have no idea what a snicket is though :rotfl:0

What are two bedroom mid terraces with a drive being priced at in the immediate locality?
A short walk to my front door from my own parking space would not bother me but if I could get a very similar house house with dedicated parking out front in pretty much the same price bracket I would probably go for the one where I could see my car on my drive out of the front window.
The fact your property is modern and has a dedicated space, puts in in an advantageous position. A mid terrace on a street probably won't have a parking space.0 -

It wouldn't bother me having to walk between a couple of buildings to get from my owned parking-space to my house. A parking-space of any kind is a very valuable asset and even modern semis on new build estates sometimes don't have them.0

you are in a price bandwhere a lot of properties perhaps dont have parking either. Will put some off, especially if they have two cars, but it sounds better than a lot of houses in that bracket0

Someone once told me that the word meaning alley is the one with the most regional variaitions.
We call them twittens down here in the deep south.
Back to the question - it wouldn't bother me in the least, but there are people who would be very bothered indeed - same as many other characteristics of every property.0 -

It would put me off, but's that's because I'm totally anal about my car. I like the idea of it being safely in view from the house and close enough for me to protect it. However, my wife is convinced I have OCD about my car, so I suspect I'm very much in the minority.0
