Then that isn't a quote for plastering is it?

It was £725 odd without the painting and skirting. I assume all the rest still constitutes plastering?

I had always assumed about £600 per room. Size does matter (and cost waries accordingly), but in the end a 12x12 room does not take four times as long to plaster as a 6x6 room even though there is 4 times the surface area.

When doing ceilings, don't they frequently overboard it which would add a further cost?
  • £600 per room? Wow, your house must be massive! For a average over-skim i charge about £280 for a typical room size of 4mx4m. This will vary on complexity of work (patching blown plaster 1st, how many beads to fix the corners, artex? etc) but it would only add a bit on, not hundreds at a time.

As far as over-boarding the ceiling goes, it is only needed if the ceiling is in bad shape. If its bouncing when poked, or is all over the place, then yeah it will probably need over-boarding. Otherwise its just a added cost with no benefit.

Finally another plasterer, like myself, who thinks like me!!!! and isn't there to charge 10000000's for silly little jobs. Maybe people can understand why we always have and get work eh?

We're having our back room done at the moment. About 3.5ft x 3.5ft approximately. The guy is having to do a mixture of bonding, skimming, adding corner beads and tearing the wall back to brick to replaster and it's costing us £1000 including the ceiling. That also includes him cutting and fitting skirting boards then painting the room, ceiling and skirting afterwards. This is in London.

Sorry but what on earth are you going to use a room that size, 3.5ft x 3.5ft, for. Please don't swing any cats.
