Well, I'm sure the Owner will either attend any meetings, or at the very least, be given copies of the minutes. :)

On the reassurance side, one tip ... rather than 'voicing' concerns to a Manager/member of staff, put it in writing. That way, you'll get a written response ;) If they don't follow up with a written response, chase them up with a second letter (even include a copy of the first). HTH :)

I totally agree, as there are so many allergies around now days it wasn't the most sensible games, if they want to encourage cleanliness, water and a cloth can do wonders for kids.
I think a letter cc'ing in the orignal nursery is a good idea, as at least it will provide comfort that it has been acknowledged.
  • Must admit it would really worry me - not particularly because of the air freshener incident (which was a stupid thing for a member of staff to do, but thankfully no harm done), but if that's the type of action which staff are happy to have witnessed, then what on earth are they doing when there aren't any outsiders around?
IMHO nursery staff HAVE to be absolutely scrupulous in the way they work with the children, as they're not their children, they're someone elses. I would expect them to be absolutely over the top with health and safety, not sailing desperately close to the wind.
Am not sure I'd feel comfortable leaving my littlies with someone who behaves in that type of manner.

I would seriously object to all those CFC's being sprayed around little 'uns, and put my concerns in writing to the registered nursery officer.

I don't think you're over-reacting at all. In my opinion it's a very inappropriate activity. I hate air fresheners and never use them in the house so hate the idea of my little children breathing them in like that. Also it is making children think that pressurised cannisters are toys and something to play with. You could ask the owner about it and see what she says. You have a right to know what is going on at your child's nursery.

It's hardly crime of the century is it?

Maybe we should stop wrapping our kids up in cotton wool in case they shove it up their noses and it gets stuck?
im sorry but what the @$** both my children suffer from ashama and one from excema if this was to happen around them it would cause a huge attack which might kill them so i would yes mettion something this is dangerous and stupid and it should never happen in any place that looks after children.

unbeleivable, first its acceptable for a nursery worker to shout at and manhandle a child because they are only human:rolleyes: , now its ok to spray airfreshner and get children to catch it?

  • I am horrified!! As already mentioned, this will affect kids with allergies and more. I know that I choke if I breathe in freshener. And what happens when your kids get a hold of a can at home (not that you'd leave it on display) or find some a grannies and spray it in thier eyes or something. Air freshener is not a toy!!

I'd wait to see if it happens again, if you don't see it I'd find a way to find out. Then you'd have full reason to complain even more.

Hate the stuff - as a parent of kids with asthma/eczema these air fresheners are like poison (yes, literally). I can't get in taxis cos the driver always seems to have a solid air freshener hanging in the car!

was about to point out the dangers for the asthmatic children, some children can't point out they are feeling poorly or cant breathe properly, and imo common sense would have told me not too, as anyone could have had a reaction, whether skin or breathing!!! STUPID STUPID GAME!!!!
