Can a nursery do anything about people parking on the pavement outside the nursery

Where my daughter goes to nursery it's a nightmare to park due to only having 5 spaces to park and the rest of the road has double yellow lines. Now if you go over town and park it only takes 5 minutes to walk to the nursery but some of the parents won't do this and will park up on the pavement so people has got to walk on the road. Now the other day it was pouring down with rain and this women had a small child walking and she also had a pushchair so as there was cars parked on the pavement she had to walk on the road so everytime a car came she had to stop to let the car past which made me mad as the driver could have stopped.
Now i would like to know if i sent the nursery a letter about the people parking on the pavement could they do anything about it as it's safety for the children.

It is not their property. They cannot dictate where people park. They could suggest that people are more consideration, but even if they do people do not have to comply.Gone ... or have I?0

Ours got a PCSO to patrol every morning for a week. Council were more than happy to assist as it boosted their coffers from ticketsNoli nothis permittere te terere

All the nursery can really do is send letters home to all parents reminding them that if they're caught parking on a double yellow they may get a ticket and they are endangering other childrens lives by parking on the pavement.
If the nursery perceive it at a problem they could contact the PCSO team and ask if they could come by at drop off/pick up times to 'educate' the crap parkers.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
What is it that you have against drivers/disabled drivers?
You must be bored, mind you living in your area I can see why.0 -
I'd squeeze past the cars whilst wearing something very sharp which accidentally scratches the cars...
Seriously, I'd write to the nursery and tell them parents parking are causing a hazard and obstructing pavements. Someone wrote to my work and complained about us parking on the road (!) rather than on site (lack of parking), and it ended up with the council painting double yellow lines!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

PCSO's issue tickets in your area? Must be a new law.I am not a cat (But my friend is)0 -
Its against the law to park on the pavement so I'd call the local police station & report it if its a regular occurance, ask them to send someone to issue tickets & talk to drivers.
Parking so that you are forcing mothers/fathers with young children and pushchairs to walk in the road is so inconsiderate it deserves the full penalty that can be given.
Also call the council, perhaps the lack of parking needs addressing to find a long term solution.0 -

Same here. Our Plastic Plod says he doesn't have the powers to ticket the same group of numpty selfish up their own arrises mums that park on double yellows. Even worse when they fill up the bus stop and the old dears are unceremoniously dumped in the middle of the road by the bus driver. The man without a signature.0 -

No doubt will be the same inconsiderate numptys who then come onto this site complaining they have received a ticket just for 'picking up Johnny from school and parking for 2 mins on a yellow.'
Up to the authority to enforce unfortunately OP.0 -

In some areas, PCSO's are allowed to issue parking tickets.

Given that PCSOs can deal with anti-social cycling such as riding on footpaths, can they deal with anti-social parking on footpaths and cycle lanes?
In Cambridgeshire, all our PCSOs are also appointed as traffic wardens and have full traffic warden powers. However, in some areas, illegal parking is the responsibility of the local authority. In these areas, PCSOs are unable to intervene, however they do work closely with the local authority to address problem areas. PCSOs using their traffic warden powers can and do issue fixed penalty tickets for offences such as vehicles being left in dangerous positions, obstructing the highway0
