:j Does anyone feel that the NFU is the cheapest for car insurance? Do they offer a monthly pay plan! I did ask in the MORETHAN crafty lure in the punters with the M&S vouchers thread!
Tesco is rip off! No legal cover either another extra you have to pay for! Another trick of the trade! Thats why they come up good in all those on-line quote search sites! Then Folks like with all the money grabbing B**stards ,then add the extras! Helps pay for the pension schemes for the Board members of these dirty insurance companies! Rip-off Britain indeed!
You see i feel my car should be about £45/50 A MONTH NOT £73 .
NFU is a farmers insurnace thingy that excepts outside policy holders! Trouble is their offices that are scarce, and are all by the phone purchase. Some only open for 1 hour a day so I think they may be a bit behind with the times in actually getting hold of a policy, unless you visit there actual office. The net sites only offer a quoation and a reply that an Officer from the NFU local centre nearest to your location will contact you to discuss a policy! Any Good with them??

No. I would not think they would be. However, you dont buy NFU general insurance for it being the cheapest. You buy it for coverage and options.Tesco is rip off! No legal cover either another extra you have to pay for! Another trick of the trade!
Legal cover has been a cost add on for decades. No trick of the trade. Just lack of understanding on your part.hen Folks like with all the money grabbing B**stards ,then add the extras! Yawn. Watch out. Your tin foil hat is slipping off.You see i feel my car should be about £45/50 A MONTH NOT £73 .
Your feelings are irrelevant.so I think they may be a bit behind with the times in actually getting hold of a policy, unless you visit there actual office.
They are not behind the times. They are catering for their market. Their market is not people trying to buy products with bits lopped off them at the lowest cost possible but loyal customers who buy a better quality product.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. hi we have been insured with the n f u for years and have always found them extremely helpful in every way .They are really good at finding different ways round of getting u cheaper quotes with them. We renewed ours last week and i got £100 knocked off by changing the policy to myself as the main driver rather than my husband because i am a housewife, and it became fully comp rather than 3rd party.I think however as we have been with them for several years we have a bonus which is knocked off the premium also I also looked around for cheaper quotes via internet sites before renewing.0

I agree, I find NFU are good. I just rang them and gave them all the usual information and they sent out the paperwork just as others do. I rather like fact that I ring a local number if I need them (though have rarely done so) rather than faceless call centre - and I've never been asked to go into the office.
Their prices are the best I could find for my car, yes they offer monthly payments and I also get a loyalty bonus as sandran says.
If good customer care is old fashioned, I'll stick with old fashioned thanks!!0 -
Theres 2 parts to the company
NFU Mutual who are the local offices and NFU Mutual Direct who are open from 8am - 8pm monday - fri and open on saturdays.
Some local offices connect through to the contact centre so they will mirror the 8-8 mon to fri hours etc.0 -
We've recently changed our car insurance to the NFU - we got both cars insured for the less than the price that others were quoting for one car - they were the only company who suggested swapping our no claims bonus to enable us to save money. Also, able to speak to same person on the phone and called into local office to sort it all out. Previously, we were with Aviva but they just weren't interested in retaining our business - their quote was way more than anybody else.0

:rotfl:Awfully sorry dear chap! Oh one must be off down the Golf club tomorrow to see the other lot and get away from those awfull 'Oinks' of the Town. Check up with the Tory boys on the house portfolios..You got to keep appearances you know!
Yes very Sarcastic indeed your response is,so you must be ONE of the boys on the "Gravy train then" !:T Or you work for insurance company! I give you your brownie points for defending the greedy lot!
Also before you call me a Labour loony leftie, well no i don't vote Labour if your going to hit back with that line!
I have had car insurance for 10 years and only the last 3 has legal cover been an issue ! Also have studied Economics to a high standard so don't lecture me on >Just lack of understanding on your part.
The fact is car insurance is too high for especially small cars/lesser badge cars and young males in general! We do not all drive Aston Martins you know, maybe you do though i don't agree paying the price a policy that should be for a car like a big Merc on a small car!0 -

Its one thing to study economics. Its another to understand it. What did you do, study it for a few weeks and drop out? If you really knew economics then you would know the models that exist. The fact is car insurance is too high for especially small cars/lesser badge cars and young males in general! Again, a complete lack of understanding and knowledge that you would not expect from someone with economics qualifications. Not knowing these things is understandable if it is not your field. You can either choose to learn the reasons why or you can remain ignorant and go on about rip of britain. Also before you call me a Labour loony leftie, well no i don't vote Labour if your going to hit back with that line!
Seeing as you chose to offer a judgemental opinion, I would say that my view of you wasnt a Labour Leftie as politics has little to do with this thread. I was thinking that you were low IQ, possibly unemployed or in a low skilled job and relied on the red tops for your news and opinion.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). 1. Third party. The people you kill and injure if you fall asleep and drive into a crowd or whose Rolls you hit and write off. Your car, however cheap, is more than adequate to cripple a few children crossing the road and land your insurer with the costs of lifetime care for them.
2. Comprehensive. This has a far smaller extra part that covers your own vehicle, where there is some difference if you happen to have a cheap one.
And comprehensive can be cheaper than third party, fire and theft because higher risk drivers have been tying to use that to save money, making the risk pool for comprehensive less risky sometimes, hence lower accident rates and cheaper cover. Until people learn and it goes back to the original risk level and being more expensive again. You'll know about this from your behavioral economics course, I expect.0 -

:T Yep as i thought a PLUTOCRAT middle aged bloke who likes his Jag and got to keep the "Jobs for the Boys happy" man! Ok,you agree with riping off the British public then! Thus to find funds by increasing premiums to pay for the baords wifes spending habits ,OH YES! I want to earn more than the CEO of of the other firm's CEO in this particular market niche just to PROOVE myself and then become chairman! Speed boat here i come !
Look at the bloke who owns top-shop> Disgusting though i give him his due he plays the system well by putting all his assets in his wifes name ,also like all the rich try to get citizenship in Monaco or Malta ,great for death duties too! keep that money we got off the poor then!
To not increase salaries of main bulk workers but to top up salaries of the the top-filght for doing very little indeed most of them! (Non-board directors) Alot of Tory boys MP's,show up 3 times a year and get £60k for turning up! Not bad dear chap. This weekend off donw to my country pad to shoot abit Groose & some awful oinks!
We see which side you defend PLUTOCRAT!> I think more on this board would agree with me !Why should we pay more to fuel your life style and your lot! Its obvious your involved in this scandoulous industry and must defend it as we don't want the truths getting out just like the politicians on their expenses! An extra big house we don't need ,another holiday home in Cornwall and destroy the local life ,a desert in the week then all come down at the weekend for oh yaaaa break dear chap:rotfl:
:money:The fact is yes I understand Economic models and evertything and passed it PLUTOCRAT! Economic models are more theoritical than reality to be the truth and Economists can only predict curves and demands to a point! There is a thing called REALITY as well! You have quoted on IQ levels, well how insecure you must be! Well more like don't want the people on here hearing the tricks of the trade! Like your bankers get more in bonuses than there actual salary!
Well you won't quite me! People need to know there are better deals out there and should be as the prices are a Disgrace! They put up premiums to cover the payouts of a bad winter but they only put them up to boost the profit /loss margin of the company books to cover the dividends and ONCE again make the figures looks 'rosy' for this year payout bounuses to the board members and not to the staff!
Oh yeah sorry don't read the SUN! Though i bet you do as your a page 3 man probably pals with Jim Davidson too!0 -
What level of economics did you study? A grade GCSE? A level? Short course at university as part of some other degree?
Do you think that the mobility of labour is an important factor in the price paid to some employees?0
