in Water bills
We moved in around 10th June nd had a meter installed 14 August When we notified them we had moved in they asked for £80 to cover that periods water rates. We paid this and it was explained to us that when the meter was installed we would have the pro-rata amount refunded towards our metered water. For about six weeks or water rates water they have charged us £70 and refunded £10. Does this seem right?

Whatever the rates are divide by 365 and times the amount of days you were paying on them , this will work out the cost you owe.0

Not sure I understand this.
10 June to 14 August is over 9 weeks.(not 6 weeks) £70 for that period equates to approx £400pa which is not high for a non-metered supply in ST area.0
