Cunningham Lindsey loss adjusters

Had a burst pipe in the bathroom which ran through into the kitchen and lounge/diner below. Kitchen needs stripping back then replasterboard and new kitchen, lounge/diner needs redecorate right through. Quotes for kitchen around £10000 and £1000 for redecoration.
Insurance company (sheilas wheels) have passed the claim to loss adjusters Cunningham Lindsey, has anyone any experience of them ? are they fair ? or will they just try and get me to settle for as little as possible ? Any help or advice would be appeciated as its the first time we've ever had a claim like this. Thanks

  • Hi, how is your claim progressing. Or is it all sorted now. And how did you find Cunningham Lindsey? I've just had a visit from one of their loss adjusters and found him incredibly bullish.

Would be grateful if you could let me know how you got on.

Hi - Cunningham Lindsay got involved with my jewellery claim whilst on holiday. They were really fair. I didn't receive a visit but the chap telephoned me twice asking me all sorts of questions but he was really nice. The claim was settled a couple of weeks after and i was a happy bunny!

They just investigate the claim to prove its genuine/valid and try and settle as fairly as possible - for the insurance company and the insured.
When I had a claim they asked me to obtain 2 quotes for the damage - think this is incase you are trying to rip the insurance off lol - they like to know the quote is in the correct money region.

  • Loss adjusters are independant to your insurer so attempt to establish the most reasonable value for the claim, in the same way some insurers ask for 2 quotes.

I have had no experience personally of Cunningham Lindsey, but I would imagine they will charge their fee from the insurer regardless of the value of the claim you're making so it wouldn't be in their best interest to try to rip you off.

I am currently in processes in dealing with Cunningham and Lindsey, i am finding it difficult to get hold of anyone their with mangement as i was promised i would get my cheque through 3 weeks ago and still nothing.

funny thing is just before seeing this post i was on the phone to them and they fobbed me off again saying my case handler was in a meeting and before that away and then on lunch they have said they will email him to contact me we will see and if not back on the phone to them tomorrow morning

As an insurer, as far I'm aware, we have a scale of fees with Cunningham Lindsay which scaled up depending on the value of the claim. If anything, they have an incentive to maximise payout to you as it means their fees will be higher. This is certainly how it works with our other loss adjusters.

I work in Insurance and have done for 10 years both in claims and Underwiting. C&L are one of the biggest Loss Adjusters in the country.

They're an independent company insurers use to manage large loss / complex insurance claims. They will not maximise a payout or try to cut costs. They will ensure that all that is damage is repaired / replaced within the cover you have.

Basically, they are like project managers to get your house back to as it was.

Ah, the good old final adjustments of £10,010 or £25,010. Those were the days!

Call me cynical but it seems to me that Cunningham Lindsay inflate risk assessment figures up so high that you then get paid nothing and they have saved the insurance company like £8,000 or something, then they get a handsome bonus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
