argos tried to refuse me phones

has anybody else tried to purchase 2 mobile phones at argos at the same time.
i reserved one last night and one this morning before heading to the shop, after giving the reserve numbers i was told they did not sell more than one phone of the same make/model to the same customer, not happy with him i told him to sell me one of the reserves and i will be back in 5 minutes for the other at that point he sold me them both in one transaction.
has anybody else had this as i was a bit peeved as they where both presents for me and other half.

It is mainly to block people from buying the entire stock, unlocking them and sending them overseas, losing Argos money since the networks pay them for new customers!
It does state it in a number of places online and in the catalogue, although if you have a valid reason it is down to the store discretion really0 -
I'm sure I remember seeing a sign in the store by customer services saying you can only buy one phone per transaction.0

I thought it was to stop people buying lots of reduced mobiles then selling them on ebay <for usually double the price they paid >0

I wanted 2 of the recent £29.99 ones with £30 credit on - on the 3 network. I had reserved 2 of them and when I went to pay for them in seperate transactions the cashier had to seek supervisors approval.
I pointed out that I was buying 2 one for myself and one for my mother who was browsing the store and it was OK'd.

It does actually state that it is a 'Maximum 1 handset per customer' on the site, under additional information on the right hand side of the product page.0

Well, when you arrive there, remember to check your slip to see which court room number to collect your punishment from.0 -

 I don't even know what to say! I hope you don't get away with it. It is quite horrible the threats and intimidation I get instore sometimes for simply following company policy - never actually been punched though (touch wood).
To the OP, this is well publicised Argos policy, it may be frustrating for the few customers it effects but the policy is there for a reason and believe there are a lot of people who do try to take advantage. Try to see it from the shop's point of view.
