Broadband / Line rental ?

Hi,

I am moving into a new apartment this weekend, the first time I've lived completely on my own! Anyway, I'm finding the whole broadband/line rental thing slightly confusing... My landlord told me to call up Virgin Media and ask them to reconnect the line, however I don't want one of their broadband packages as they're not the cheapest. So if it's a Virgin line in the property, can I still get line rental from somewhere else? Or how does it work exactly?

If it is Virgin Cable than you can only use Virgin, to use other suppliers you will need a BT Telephone line connected.

Virgin Media cable line or Virgin National ADSL line? If the latter, you can connect with whichever company you choose.
