I'll stick with Firefox 2 - and I like the tabs, the reloading of tabs after a crash, etc. Loading IE7 is likely to be my last sight of IE7, except when I might need it for non-standard sites.

I did read somewhere that if you uninstall 7, 6 automatically re-installs. Is this true?

  • I didn't like ie7 at first, but love it now. The feeds option is great (some websites have a sort of summary of all its main content in news headline form, for those that havent used feeds before) and its so easy to add and view them under ie7, far less complicated than in mozilla IMO. I would think that feeds in ie7 will help to spell the end of some dedicated feed readers and will definately affect their sales.

Would love to be able to change the menu bar toolbars that are all across the top of ie7 to a different colour, a bit darker maybe but other than that its ok. There is a well known bug in ie7 that will stop yoru outlook working but a fix is available from microsoft,

Done it myself on my brother's pc (low spec machine that didn't like IE7). Just uninstall from Add/Remove programs (it's listed as "Windows Internet Explorer 7") and you end up with IE6 automatically (after a reboot of course).

Joemardo1, in Firefox you simply drag the orange RSS square from the UL window to the toolbar. Job done!

I downloaded IE7 last week. I found the new cleartype too blurry no matter what setting it was on, so I changed it to the basic old stlye of just plain black.
I use an 18" Dell Ultrasharp lcd screen.

Seems to be a pain for a lot of people, my dad wanted my help switching off cleartype as he didn't like it at all (has 17" TFT). But I've personally not found it a problem I actually like the new text, my monitor is a 19" CRT and I wonder if it looks completely different on LCD compared to CRT.

I also downloaded IE7 last week. Since then I have noticed that the security lock which previously had appeared on the toolbar when I opened my Bank page or bought anything on the net has disappeared.
This was always very re-assuring to me and I miss it.
Is the phishing symbol which appears on evey page just as good?
If not how can I get my security lock back.
Please would some kind MSE member explain this taking into account that I am not very technical.
