Have to confess that ours is coming in quite high - but we have been MSE in various ways despite the cost! I don't want to say the cost really in case I get shouted off the forum, but it still noticeably less than "average" according to that article :)
Just reiterating what Emsbet said really-don't worry about other peoples opinions, I thought about that before I posted that our wedding is costing about £12k, but then I decided it might actually help people to see what we have spent! It is all about money saving for YOUR pocket and if your pocket has £20k in it, then lucky you! Everyone is entitled to money saving tips, not just the ones without much of it! :money:

We will end up spending about £10k in all (scary when you write it down) but that includes an extremely nice 2 week honeymoon all inclusive to Tanzania and Zanzibar....the first ever proper luxurious holiday and safari we will have been on!
We have kept costs down (well, in our heads anyway!) by hiring a venue that lets us choose our caterer and hire tables/chairs etc from wherever we want, so for that price we will be having about 45 people to the registry office and for afternoon tea (a Saturday in June this year) then a total of 120 people for a barbeque in the barn we have chosen. We are also making it a free bar for that price, and paying for accommodation for the best man, 2 bridesmaids, my parents and very close friend of the family, as we had to pay for the b and b for 2 nights to get the barn. We are lucky as my mum runs a business and can get fabric easily, so she is making table linen/table cloths, and we are using one of the supermarkets free glass hire service too. I am not having flowers or centrepieces, and am making satin ribbon flowers for each chair and for me and the bridesmaids myself. Invites were from Moo cards with a special offer (from here!)....I guess there are other things, but can't remember them right now. Just glad most of it is done to be honest!

I see MSE more within living within your means, so spending 12k when you have out of control debts = not MSE. Spending 12k with responsible saving and borrowing = absolutely fine. We've been really lucky in that both sets of parents have contributed £5k but this isn't something I feel guilty about as I rarely take money from them and we're both very financially responsible so our parents know it wont be frittered away.

Our budget is around 8k for the wedding for a civil ceremony, 3 course meal with wine for around 80 and evening reception and buffet for around 120. Our honeymoon has come in around £1750 for flights and hotels and we've asked for spending money contributions in lieu of a guest list.

All in we are about 10k including mini moon. PIL gave us 1k and mine gave us £800. We paid everything else ourselves by saving very hard!
I've been very MSE everywhere I could, dresses etc, foam flowers and have made all invites etc ourselves. I could easily have spend 15k if I hadn't done this.
In fact I don't think I'd have struggled to spend the 21k it would have been quite easy! I think its really all dependant on your venue, I'm paying 2k hire fee and around £50 per head for 60 guests.
