I've had the DAB for two years now through two cold winters, rainstorms, wind and thick fog without a problem. I can't see any evidence of exceptionally bad weather last night.

You cannot see atmospheric pressure, I think it is this that is causing your problem.
  • There are atmospheric problems at the moment causing interference to come in from the continent. This could be causing your reception issues.

Unlike FM where you get interference in sound from teh foreign stations, on DAB it'll just cut out . You've probably got marginal DAB coverage from the indoor antenna, and the interference is enough to stop it working.

I did notice that rather than pixelate which is how digital TV normally reponds to a poor signal, the picture kept intermittently freezing for a split second on one of the decoders, the other one gave out completely.

After about 8am yesterday there have been no problems with TV or radio at all, plain as a whistle. It was just for a 10 hr period.

Even though the DAB radio has an FM option, I couldn't even manage to switch it over from DAB!

However, remember my DAB radio is down as well. Can't understand which there isn't an uproar about this!
I'll let you know when I buy a 1980's technology DAB radio (not any time soon).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Its a 'Pure' brand not a cheap one. I received it as a service award, otherwise would never have one.

To be fair it has worked well until the other night, except for odd static problems causing it to reset. My friends DAB radio is useless, he never seems to get reception with it.

Just bought a Panasonic DAB Stereo I can get digital radio on it but for some reason after about 10 minutes the channel just cuts off and I get nothing. I end up having to power off the device and power up again to listen to the radio station. This is a joke. People have told me I will need to get an indoor aerial is this correct? Thought digital was the in thing to use now - very disappointed. Your advice needed.

That sounds like a reciever problem, with a component overheating. DAB transmissions are not great, but they are at least continuous!
