I have one from Lakeland (the smaller size). I love it as when I shape burgers by hand they just fall apart.
There's an older thread here with more replies - burger press.

I bought the lakeland one. As well as looking nicer the real advantage is that they are properly compressed and so don't fall apart during cooking. I use the wax discs and freeze them - great for meat and beggie/bean burgers...0

Why buy another gadget ?
2 sheets of cling film or foil - rolling pin and pastry cutters or an empty jam jar work just as well !

Hi
I've had a Tupperware (is this still going?) burger press for years and years.
It consists of 6 plastic moulds that you put the mince in, and a taller cylinder that you put into the mould, a flat press that you just push down on and a lid for the moulds.
You can stack the burgers in the moulds and pop into the freezer.
I use it quite a lot.

I have/had the Lakeland one (£6.99, the £2.99 is for the discs) and the disc inside broke. Lakeland took over the Bel design for the press when Bel stopped making them. I also have the Bel one which is ages old and I feel works better than the Lakeland one. My Lakeland one let mince pass down into the body where as the Bel one doesn't. Strange since they are supposed to be identical.
I’m always hoping to find another Bel one in a car boot – has anyone else had the same problem with the Lakeland one?
That said, I swear by it and make all my own burgers. I use just the meat, no binding agent, and they hold together even on the barbeque.
Making the burgers is great for stress relief as I turn the press over and hit the base a couple of times with a rubber mallet!!!:eek:Aiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

I took the liberty of opening the boxes in Lakeland and taking the large and medium size presses apart in the shop
The 1/4 pounder one was not as well constructed as the smaller one, which is made by a different company, so I bought the smaller one (which retails at £6.50) It holds 2-3oz and is a lovely chunky burger and does the job well!0 -
We use the Lakeland quarter pounder press, and find it excellent. I also use it for shaping mashed potato/bubble and squeak for freezing.0

I use the smaller one from Lakeland. It did not cost a lot and the results are really good.
I have a lot of gadgets I don't use but this is not one of them
I do use the wax discs as well. Great for if you want to freeze them.Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
I'm looking for a good burger presser to make my own burgers, can anyone recommend some?
Thanks.0
