Burger Press

Does anyone here make their own burgers in a press?
I'm going to have a look for one for light use on ebay this afternoon. But but last time I looked I was a bit overwhelmed by the choice. If you have one can you recommend it?
The only one that really caught my eye was the tupperware one as it had pots to store pressed burgers in, but getting one looks hard as they are quite rare.
Thanks!

We use a great one from Lakeland. They come in two sizes, we always use the quarter pounder one
Here's the quarter pounder http://www.lakelandlimited.co.uk/product.aspx/!10481_10501 (£6.99)
and here's the smaller one http://www.lakelandlimited.co.uk/product.aspx/!2647_3413 (£6.50)0 -

I just hand roll mine and press them flat by hand.
Makes them more special and "hand crafted!" lol"This site is addictive!"

I make mine by hand, but I'm not really keen on the texture. I'm hoping the press will make all the difference. Yum!dannahaz wrote:We use a great one from Lakeland. They come in two sizes, we always use the quarter pounder one

Hi Lynz, gosh now your asking... I cant put my finger on it. I think its because they are so crumbley. I want something to bite in to, and thinner!SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. I use a sprung loaded one as well. I got it several years ago from a charity shop. I use silicon baking sheet (from poundland) cut to size as the liners each time.True wealth lies in contentment - not cash. Dollydaydream 20060

I know EXACTLY what you mean. Sometimes they can be a bit cake like inside, crumbly.
Do you add an egg? I dont usually, but if I use really lean mince I do as theres not really enough marbling of the fat to keep it moist. If you are using breadcrumbs in it and its lean mince, dont bother it makes them worse. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most?
