Car Insurance Renewal quote...OMG!

My insurance jumped by a good £200 reduced to £100 increase when I changed insurers. Well could have beaten my previous quote with Admiral/Bell but decided to avoid them for a few reasons.
All insurers have to balance the books however and when they are paying out 115% of what they take in....0 -
My wife's car came through at £370, paid under £300 last year, shopped around, managed to get through Aviva (GO DIRECT AS THEY DO NOT USE COMPARISION SITES!) at £208, + also going through quidco gives another £30 cashback, so effectively ££370 to £178!! mmm - and you aren't?And obviously a member of the 'I must have the last word' brigade...
Seriously though premiums have gone up around 30 -35% this year across the board. They have us all by the shorts. Yes it sucks. Do we have a choice? No not really so beefing about it won't get the premiums down.

I went from 5 years NCB to 6 years in February. Last year I was with Direct Line and paying less than £400 on a lightly modified, imported, 1993 Nissan with an estimated mileage of 4,000 miles per year and a company car as my daily driver. This year they wanted £560! Particularly annoying since my claims history was actually better this year due to one old (non fault) accident dropping off the radar. Still got one fault accident and one vandalism claim on the history though.
Ended up going with Highway, via Chris Knott for £700 as Direct Line wont cover my planned modifications for this year, but that's another story.0 -
A £600 premium with 40% NCB going to £700 with 50% NCB is actually a base premium increase from £1000 to £1400 which is a 40% increase and not a 16.7% increase.0

Of course we need to factor in the cost of Comparison Sites, they all have to be paid for, by the amount of TV adverts, they are doing very nicely out of us.
I say us, because at the end of the day, their commission is paid for by the end user.0 -
Renewal came through for OH's car - £212 up from £169 last year with swiftcover, shopped around and got it for £167 minus £67 cashback from TopCashBack for a round ton fully comp protected. Lowest I've ever paid.
Definitely pays to shop around. If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try - oh bu99er that just cheat

Mine went up from £400 odd to over £900 this renewal, with 9 yrs NCB on a diesel Mondeo, this was with Swintons but the Insurance was provided by Equity Red Star, got a quote of £450 through Santander, guess who the Insurance policy was actually provided by? Yes, thats right, Equity Red Star.
Had to laugh when they (Equity Red Star) phoned me up last week to say I need to confirm my NCB or my premium will go up.
I advised them to shout across the room as they insured me last year.
One of the biggest issues is cars from the EU, or rather Lithuania, Poland, Latvia etc. Driving here whilst uninsured or doing the six months visit to Europe to keep 6 month clause technically in operation.
They are almost untraceable and have lots of RTC's where they just leg it an abandon the car, or give false details, these claims are now getting very common, 2 or 3 a week around East London, with info' only coming from from Ambulances based at two stations, imagine that number of these RTC's across the entire country.
The fact that they are normally drunk is just another issue that is increasing everybodies premiums.
I know a bloke in E16 that has had a HA house for 3 years and still drives his Polish registered Audi, and no, it isn't a cheap Audi, it is a recent A6, he has his old one there for the wife, and went back to Poland to get a new one a couple of years ago.0 -

Sounds about right for that shower of useless morons. Pray you never have to make a claim through them, and if you do and it's a non-fault, be sure to go through a 3rd party claims management company.
I will not buy car insurance from them again.0 -
How long before all insurance companies realise they can charge pretty much what they want, and we all end up paying £1000+?0
