Help with motorola RAZR V3

I am completely useless with my phone. I installed phonetools v3 thinking I would be able to do something special like add new ringtones or pictures or something, but all I seem to be able to do is use the phone whilst connected to the internet. There is a long list of skins when I explore the cd, but can't find how to access them. All I get is a picture of a phone in the corner of my pc screen that states 'initiallizing' and nothing else. Was I expecting too much from this disc. What am I doing wrong.
Also if someone else has this type of phone I tried to set the phone to answer when opened, but this option isn't on my phone, all I have is 'use any key to answer' is this option dependent on your service provider.

I have the same mobile as you,but i installed" Motorola mobile phone tools" that came in the box with the mobile.I just connect my mobile to computer and download ringtones free and add pictures.easy to do .
Did you get a instruction manual for the mobile ?
Try here http://www.motox.info/ and scroll right down the page to Motorola Razr.If you keep looking on that web site ,there is a guy who tells you how to download any ringtone to your mobile for free. With the disc i got i just put a cd in my computer, pick out a song i like and its puts it as a ringtone for me .0 -
I note that you say that you have installed "phonetools V3", is the motorola phonetools disk as mentioned by "imho"?
I have a V3x and I originally installed Moto phone tools V3.28 (IIRC). After installation, when I went on line, the software checked for updates and performed a couple of large updates (broadband is a must!) and is now at V4. something.
Maybe you need the updates to work with the V3?0 -
DBore. Is the disc that Snoopy_rules Motorola phonetools ? the same as mine ? Its so long since i set it up,that i cant remember what i did,but it must have been easy for me to do it !
Maybe if Snoopy_rules just plugs the mobile into the computer when he is not on line to see if it stops 'initiallizing' .0 -

did you follow the instructions *precisely* when installing the driver?
IIRC, there is a very specific set of steps that you must follow to install the driver successfully.............until that happens, the pc wont recognise the phone.
Once the driver is installed, then (and only then) can you install Phone Tools. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -

Hi. Please can you tell me where I find the instructions for installing the driver. All I did was place the cdrom in computer and thw wizard installed it. Should I have done something else?0 -

No, the instructions are quite specific (I reinstalled mine this afternoon)......"do not connect your device until instructed to do so".
Not rocket science :beer:You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
