Thanks Ldejay, yes I've no doubt that my parents are not his first victims.0

The guy who phoned my mother said he had all the details in front of him which I presumed was normal for someone who worked at the bank.
However, after reading some of your responses, I'm not so sure now that he had the right to do that.
The DPA says that employees should only have access to information they require for their job. Therefore if he was selling insurance to non-existing customers he wouldn't have needed bank details - however he may have had them if using them as part of security questions on existing accounts, or his role may be varied and he serviced accounts as well as selling.0 -
Thanks egbert, I'll bear that in mind :-)0

you need to tell the Police
this guy could be a serial fraudster for all you know.0 -
If they have already offered £150 then they know the employee was in the wrong so push for as much as you can this is fraud on potentiall a big scale because your parents will not be the first0

Thanks mo786uk, this is what I want to do but at the end of the day it's my parents decision. I just have to try and convince them that's they really need to do this.0

My sentiments exactly go cat. Thanks for your support :-)0

The response you may get from the police is that it is a civil matter and thus nothing to do with them, but it is as it is fraud so you need to hammer that home to them also get a solicitor as soon as possible and if the police will not investigate let the solicitor know so they can sort that also as a letter to the police from a solicitor should get a better result.
Damages by the way are a lot more than £150 in a court and is why you need a solicitor the bank are now using damage limitation in the hope it will not go further.0 -
That's excellent advice pompeyfaith, I will try my best to talk them into at least getting a solicitor on board. Many thanks :-)0

Your Welcome what the bank worker has done is a very serious matter indeed, it is bad enough being spammed for you funds but to be defrauded by a bank worker who holds a position of trust by its customers is the lowest of the low.0
