London secondary school transfer

Has anyone living in London received notification today of which school their child has been allocated? Letters were supposed to go out today notifying all parents in London of the decision, but neither I nor any of the other parents at DS's school have had theirs. The info we were given when we applied suggested notification would be today not that the letters would be posted today. There is a very tight deadline to appeal if you don't get a sensible offer, so just wondering whether this is a cross London thing, or just a problem in our borough.

The letters are sent out today, so you won't receive them until tomorrow/Wednesday when the letters arrive by normal post, and not necessarily 1st class at that.

Does your borough have online confirmation?

We didn't apply online as it felt "safer" to hand deliver a written application form, so not sure how to access any on line info or even if I can.

Thanks for clearing up the date. We only have until 22nd to lodge any appeal, so I'll be very fed up if I don't get the letter until the end of the week:eek:

We are nowhere near London (in Yorkshire) however even though the application form said that decisions would be posted out today, I received my letter today. The letter was even dated with 1st March on the acceptance letter. For that reason, I wouldn't take it as gospel that everywhere will be posted out today. If it was earlier I'd have suggested ringing admissions to check. Fingers crossed for you.

We are SE London and were told we would recieve an email by 4pm....still no email!

Thanks. Yes even the online applicants with us haven't had an email yet. I wonder whether there has been some city wide delay? We are E London.

I applied online and haven't had an email - but it doesn't say on our County Council website that we would be notified that way, just mentions letters which are sent out today. I'm rather nervous about the whole thing. Daughter has her heart set on a school which we only have a slim chance of getting a place at, so I think we're going to have tears!

Here in Lancashire the letters arrive on March 1st and people applying online can access the information the previous evening - not very fair, is it? I did this for my DS2 last year (lost the form so was forced to apply online!) and felt very lucky but also rather guilty that we were effectively ahead of the game.
For those waiting who are anxious to get appeals in quickly if they are necessary, bear in mind that appeals must be considered strictly according to the admissions criteria, not on a first-come, first served basis. Hope everyone gets a good outcome...

DS has just been watching Newsround, which said as I thought that letters had been received today country-wide telling kids which schools they had been offered. :(

Hope our letter comes in tomorrow.
