Toys for 3-12 months old

Can anyone recommend toys to keep a baby occupied. My baby is 13 weeks old and she has loved her bouncer from about 3 weeks old and her gym from about 5 weeks old. She now uses the rings hanging down from the gym to try to pull herself into a sitting position (but of course is too young to be able to sit on her own). She can also roll from her back onto her front, but gets stuck on her tummy.
I'd like to get her some things to play with, as she is now getting bored. She has a little jangly soft toy she loves to shake, but nothing else at this point.

How about an empty plastic bottle filled with rice ? makes a lovely sound when rolled along the floor.
I found the V tech range of toys very good for young babies - lots of stuff that makes a noise.0 -
mine has a patmat from ELC.. fill it with water and the shapes move inside when patted.
She loves her lamaze emily doll and pink dragon.. definitely finest buys there.
we have some lamaze musical flowers she loves too.
ELC had some rattly things in their music section which are fabulous.. light and easy to hold... and don't hurt when she hits herself in the head with it lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
3 months is a difficult age. It's not worth spending a lot for this age group as they grow out of things so quickly. Toys for 6m+ when they can sit up last a lot longer.
Nottslass idea of the bottle and rice is a good one. You can also make a play mat, with surfaces like brown paper, bubble wrap, etc for them to lie on and feel. Another idea is to wrap up a few boxes with things in them which make a noise when shook - screws, rice, pasta shapes, a single penny all make different sounds and you can also leave one empty. Soft fee lie books last a long time developmentally. Most of what she will like though will be interaction with you - nursery rhymes, peekaboo, silly chit chat.
The other MSE option is to see if you have a toy library anywhere nearby where you could borrow suitable toys for a few weeks and exchange them for more suitable ones as she grows. Or swop with friends who have children a little older.0 -
Mine loved (maybe from a little older) a small tin (a mug came in it) filled with plastic milk bottle tops (collect all the 3 different colours), he could tip them out shake them, I could build stacks for him to knock down. Also loved spoons, silicon, or wooden. All babies should also have a set of stacking cups.0

My daughter is slightly older ( 6 months)
Her favourite toy at the moment is this. She loves it as it is easy for her to hold.
She also really likes her Sophie the giraffe teething toyGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0 -
For moneysaving ideas anything from around the home which can't hurt them - tin or plastic cups with handles, wooden spoons, spatulas, plastic bottles full of water with glitter, pringles tubes with rice or pasta.0

From birth to six months we had a swing, and from five to eight he loved his Jumperoo. Now he can crawl he is an animal, tearing up the place. He doesn't want baby toys, he wants a singing Troy Bolton, Polly Pockets tiny shoes and pens. The Jumperoo was pricey, but a godsend for the in-between. They hold their value well and I have seen them on ebay for not a lot less than I paid new.Debt free as of July 2010 :j
