Boiler cover question

I live in a new build flat which is two years old. My boiler has never been serviced, because I stupidly assumed that as it was in its warranty period, I'd get sent a reminder when it was due (I don't know why I thought that, but it's too late to do anything about it now).
Now, I want to get boiler cover, but most I've seen won't cover boilers that haven't been properly maintained. Does this mean that to get boiler cover I'll need to book a service first, or if it's not been serviced but is still ok, can I just go ahead and get cover?
It's a really confusing market, so any help or info would be appreciated.

Any company offering you an agreement will do an initial check withint the first month or so of your agreement to see if it is suitable for what they offer. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your window

Beware of cheap cover, avoid Homecall + see this.....

So just get it serviced annually and don't waste your money. If it's a half-decent boiler and has been properly installed, then why do you expect it to start giving problems after only 2 years? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Problem is though macman is they can be notoriously expensive to fix when something does go wrong with them.0 -
You are still likely to spend far more on boiler cover than on an infrequent call out and an annual service.
A good local independent RGI who knows your make and model will do a much better job of maintaining it than BG or Homeserve, and at a lower price. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Fair enough, but I would rather pay £13 a month including an annual service and have any repairs free for parts and labour than have to find £400 - £500 for a one off repair.

Very few repairs cost that much if you use a decent local RGI. Unless you require a call out, you are paying £156 every year for a service that would cost maybe £75. Every five years you are paying out £780, which would almost pay for a new boiler. How often do you expect your boiler to break down?No free lunch, and no free laptop

For me macman it's peace of mind that I won't be clobbered with a large cost like my father once was.
It's about risk. Boilers can be very expensive to fix and can be notorious for going wrong. So for me I would rather pay the £13 or so pound a month and not have to splash out maybe £400 in one go. Plus it's very difficult to live without a combi boiler if it breaks down.
Don't get me wrong if there was no annual service included I wouldn't go for it but for me that helps make it more worth while.0
