Kompozer is actually a semi official 'bug fix' version of NVU and was only meant to have a limited life.

The original lead developer, Daniel Glazman stopped working on NVU to concentrate on a replacement from scratch, taking all the best ideas from it and using new technology which has more capabilities and is the platform Firefox is based on.

Daniel has now released this new version under the GPL (GNU public license), which basically means it is absolutely free to download and use. It is called Blue Griffon for anyone who is interested.
