Aol

I am currently with AOL and have been for years. Since the introduction of their dialbb server I have had a nightmare with them resulting in my speed dropping to 512kb. It took an entire day of calls between BT and AOL to get it sorted out and since then seems to be regularly 2-3Mb.

I spoke to AOL the other day and they offered me a deal for £22.19 for broadband up to 8Mbs (they guarantee it will be faster than now), line rental and unlimited calls anytime.

I am wary about signing up to another deal for 18 months in case of any more problems and wondered if anyone else has had this deal, done it or advises against?

The option i am looking at is BT - what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks
Claire

That does look like a good deal, I must admit. Although the prospect of 18 months with AOL.....I once had 12 months with them and it was 12 months too many! AOL told me my line would never support more than 6mb, which was nonsense as I get an average of 12mb.

Check what your options are: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/broadband_checker

    Thanks.
When i spoke to BT they estimate 5.5mb which is still faster than now.

This is what Sam knows says about my line -

However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.
The following services are available in your location:
    • BT Wholesale ADSL
    • BT Wholesale ADSL Max
    • BT Wholesale SDSL
    • TalkTalk (CPW) LLU
According to BT Wholesale, your phone line should be able to support a 8Mbps or greater ADSL connection via ADSL Max.
