How many texts do you get with £5 top-up with Orange PAYG?

Hi all

Apparently you can get unlimited texts for topping up with £5; I actually can't believe how cheap that is.

Question is, would about 50 texts a day (for a month), be sufficient? - i.e. that wouldn't be regarded as excessive ?

And what is the maximum texts you can have for that fiver top-up ?

Thanks in advance :)

    It's a FAIR USE POLICY of 3,000 texts a month, or about 100 a day. Reason I post that bit in capitals is it is just that. A fair use policy. It's been known for 15,000+ texts a month to be sent with no issues.
    I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂

    I read that Orange's fair use on Unlimited texts is 3000 a month, which would equate to roughly 100 a day.

    (by which point you'd have no thumbs left)

    Phew! - thanks, guys :)

    BTW, are these texts to any network or just Orange-to-Orange ?

    O2 do a 12,000 texts to any network for £5 per month (fair use policy)

    Thanks for the info, Jonno. And do you have to be on a certain PAYG package to get that?

    At the moment, if I top up by £10, I get unlimited texts to 02 numbers only; if I top up by £15, I get unlimited texts and calls (again, only to 02 numbers).

    Will that change if I have to go on to another package to get those free texts to any network ?

    Apparently you can get unlimited texts for topping up with £5;

    You get unlimited texts by PAYING £5 from your balance, not by topping up £5. It is an important difference. New customers need to be on Dolphin or Monkey.

    On Dolphin, topping up £30 gets you unlimited texts for that month, you can then use that £30 for the subsequent 6 months to pay for unlimited texts at £5 per month. That means 7 months of unlimited texts for £4.29 per month if you pay upfront.

    It's been so long now since I went onto it, I think it's part of their simplicity package for PAYG.
