T-Mobile Annoyance
Hi all.
My fiancee got a call from Tmobile the other day, and they explained that they would be increasing her bill due to the increase in VAT. Fair play.
Shes currently paying £45 a month with her contract with them, so the extra 2.5% isn't going to be a HUGE increase.
Wrong.
They now say her new monthly bill will be over £70! They said they can do this as there is no written contract between her and T-Mobile, it was purely verbal.
My fiancee said she wasn't going to continue with them, but they want £800 to cancel the policy - surely if there is no contract, meaning they can up her bill massively then she doesn't need to pay to cancel the non-existant contract?
Can anyone help with this?
Much appreciated

The VAT increse happened at the start of the year and was added by T-Mobile to my December bill (to my mild annoyance). They didn't call me about it for whatever reason. I don't think they were obliged to call in any case.
So, whatever guff your fiancee was told the other day is exactly that. A verbal contract with T-Mobile is probably unheard of - I have no idea how you could get one.
Get her to call T-Mobile customer services to check her direct debit is set up to the correct account etc.0 -

Sounds total rubbish to me. There is either a contract or there is not. If no contract, then, as you say, no cancellation can apply. If a contract exists, then they must have t&c and no T-Mobile t&c allows such an increase.
As said, contact T-Mobile CS and also ask them to look at the notes on her a/c to see who gave her this misinformation.0 -
I was getting a loyalty bonus with T mobile, was told £10 off for the 24 month contract (all by phone), after 12 months the bonus came off, phoned them and stated I agreed to a 24 month contract cos of the £10 off. They say okay the person only set it up for 1 year when they should have set it up for 2 years. Hope this helps.Hi all.

If you look on the t-mobile web site, the most expensive tariff is £56.17, so how do they get £70???????0

Definitely wrong, T-Mobile don't phone you to tell you about price increases, they have millions of customers so for obvious reasons they write. They now say her new monthly bill will be over £70! They said they can do this as there is no written contract between her and T-Mobile, it was purely verbal.

a load of nonsense, there are no price plans of £70.
It sounds like someone made the call as a wind up.====0
