Yes, just about says it all.
Does it...Should I charge her rent then? The rent is £91 per week so should I ask for £6.50 per night? I dont think it'll go down well.

:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p

Yes, and give some of the HB back.

She'd be a lodger and the income (up to £20) from which is excluded (3 nights @ £19.50) so it's more money in my pocket. I don't mind. I'll ask her later and see what she says.;)

Yes, sorry I forgot, everyone is entitled to everything aren't they? Silly me. I had forgotten about those adverts where we are all encouraged to see what we are all entitled to. After all, it's all free money from the state.

Well obviously not, not everyone is entitled to everything are they. But he is entitled to his hb. If you have a problem with his situation report him to fraud, but if his gf has a home elsewhere then there is no case.

So what if hb claimants have a relative stay for 2nights they have to charge them board and lodge, notify the hb dept do they? And ask for their benefit to be reassessed?

He said that one of the reasons he doesn't charge his gf rent was because it is paid by HB, implying that if it wasn't then he might. So why should it make a difference? He should charge her rent and then return the HB. Just because the rules say he doesn't have to under a certain amount, doesn't mean that he doesn't have a moral obligation to. The last government brainwashed us in to believing that everyone was entitled to something just for breathing and that no-one has to put anything back into society and that is why we are bankrupt.

    No thats silly.

The OP has a regular agreement for someone to stay over 50% of the time, and they are struggling for money.

How about no longer being masochistic?
    How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?

Good point I also pay £42 per week in interest on the mortgage on which I am not "entitled to" any help. It's a shared ownership property and the interest is paid out of what I earn. I should also charge her a portion of that too. But then do I pass on part of the capital gain back to her...Too confusing.
