Easyjet cancellations and flight transfers

:(Can someone help?
I booked plane tickets with easyjet (Using flight-checker tool from the MoneysavingExpert). During the search for flights, I ticked an option that searches for flights only on the days I requested. However, when I chose my flights and looked only at the prices and times, omitting to look at the dates again (having ticked the option), I chose on the wrong days.
Having rented a studio in Lisbon from the 21st of august to the 27th, my flights were on the 22nd and 26th of august. I asked to use the 24hr cancellation clause, but I was told i had to pay £40 per person per flight of cancellation fee!!!
I then asked to change my flights, and after finding the right ones, was charged £40 per person per flight anyway... I ended up paying £804 in total for Luton-Lisbon-Luton for 2 adults and 2 children, £385 on top of normal price...
Is there anything I can do to get my money back?
Isn't this considered abusive?
Thank you in advance
Floris

What have they done that wasn't in accordance with the conditions of carriage?

Sadly you have to pay for your mistake.

I've booked Easyjet a few times, and during their booking process the dates of the flights are in pretty big letters on the right hand side of the screen (while trying to flog you insurance hotels and car rentals).

You have to hit 'confirm' a few times with the dates clearly displayed on the screen, so I'm not sure why you missed that until you received your confirmation.

Agree, it is very clear in the 'Your Basket' box on the right hand side of the screen when you "step 1 - select the flights", "step 2 - add flight options", step 3 - add hotels", "step 4 - car hire" and "step 6 - check out". Sorry to say you have learnt an expensive lesson - always check and recheck things before paying.

  • I understand, but when I didnt tick that "flexible dates" box, I didn't bother looking at the dates until I received confirmation e-mail. I'm not sayin I haven't made a mistake, but I still think the main objective of a business in this context is to satisfy a customer with the right service... If I've got consfused by their website (which yes, I have to say was a bit dumb) it's in their interest to do something to help me... I mean it's still an extra £240 I had to pay!!
Anyway, maybe I'll surprise everyone with that, but after sending an e-mail to their customer service, I received a full refund of the flights transfers fees, and I have to say it didn't take long...
Please do not think Im crazy, but thank you Easyjet. Apparently there are still some people with a bit of common sense...

Thanks to the replies anyway guys...

I always spend a minute checking dates before pressing the PAY NOW button, whether it is flights or trains. Mistakes can be very costly, as you now know!
