Switching away from Sky

I am considering another provider but all that I have contacted advise me that as I pay Sky line rental, they cannot take this over.
The options are to cancel, let the line go dead and ask the post office to take it over or to take a 12 month contract with BT for the line rental and take the service, elsewhere.
However, if I take line rental from BT the offers available are much reduced and dont offer any real savings to me.
Any suggestions on how best to proceed?

If the line has been LLU'd by Sky then you will have to take your line rental back to BT first on a return to donor, this is free, but requires you to take a 12m contract for line rental. Any extra line rental is likely to be offset by the one-off cost of a new line, which will be from about £80 upwards depending on on the provider-not to mention the time you will be without service.
One of the pitfalls of alllowing an LLU takeover I'm afraid. No free lunch, and no free laptop
