    Whos your internet service provider?

Zen, but I'm not sure it's anything to do with them as my other half hasn't had any problems at all on his laptop?

Download and run the FREE version of DR WEB
    http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/gr/
    Turn your anti virus OFF
Click CANCEL to its first question (Unless your happy to lock windows until its run)
Click NO to opening the purchase page
    Click START
    click YES
    It will auto QUICK scan
Pess the STOP button on the right (Unless your happy to quick scan first)
After that set to COMPLETE SCAN the computer and press the 'play' icon
This will more than likely take hours (12 is average!), so leave running overnight or whatever

***DO NOT UPGRADE TO FULL VERSION***

reset the HOSTS file if it asks you

Hi again, thanks very much for your help aliEnRIK. I ran Dr Web (the 'quick' scan and also the complete scan) but neither found anything. If the PC is infected then nothing seems to be detecting it! The speed is 3.7 today, I've just done a speed test.

Combofix has removed some dodgy items and some questionable ones which is why I asked for Dr Web

Is it connected wirelessly? if so log into the router and change the wireless channel

Yes it is connected wirelessly, we have a Netgear DGN2200 router. The channel is set to auto at the moment, if I change it what should I change it to?

Is it ok for me to use the PC normally now? I haven't been using it while it was infected, other than to log in here.

in order to find which is the best wifi channel to use, download and run inssider rom here:-

    http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/

it will show you what routers are running wifi in your vicinity, so you can then choose your channel to be the furthest away/least interfered with from the others :)

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
