Is there a form to fill in to get hmv discount card
Nope, you just go in store and flash your student NUS card and they will give you the card. Sometimes it helps to actually be buying something at the time.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
If you read the page at https://www.hmv.com/students it does sound like you can get a card just by flashing your Student ID, but I was told I'd need to buy something because they "need to put it through the till". So I held off, not wanting to pay over the top for something just to get their card to use online.
Now I'm getting desperate and wanting it for Christmas, I went back in to bite the bullet and just buy Indy at £2 extra and..... they've all gone! Handy of both the website and the staff to tell me first time it's a "limited time" (wha?!) "first come first served" (huh?!) offer. I'd just have bought a CD or something the first time.
I'll see what becomes of the complaint I just sent. :mad:
So if you want a HMV discount card, try and get it now. Unless you're in Manchester, then use Play.com.0 -
I just went up to the desk and asked for one, showed them my ID and they gave me one. No purchase needed and no need to put it through the till. If they had said I needed to make a purchase, I would have told them I wanted it to use online as they are much cheaper online.0

Hey Guys, Can I ask a question?
I am a student, and I have my college ID card, but no NUS card. If I went into HMV asking for their student card, would they give it to me by just showing my ID card? or would I need a NUS to show them?0 -
your student card is enough, I have not had an nus and always get an hmv student card when I want one.0

Really? Thats fantastic! Thank you very much!0 -
Yeah I had my uni of chester card and I got a HMV discount card in Manchester (last year). I wish I bought more stuff in August from HMv online as my student card was still valid! (I'm a graduate now. I do miss student discount lol).0

I think you will find that NUS won't care one bit seeing as HMV are not part of the NUS Extra scheme and haven't been for a couple of years. There is no mention of HMV discount on the NUS website, so I don't know where you get the idea that the NUS have said you are entitled to it.
This year they seem to have decided to offer the discount card only at stores in areas with a large student population, nothing to do with being near a Zavvi store. My local store in Hatfield (a small town) offers them but the uni there does have 24,000 students and there is no Zavvi in this town. I'm guessing Cheltenham or Gloucester don't have such large student populations.
There are 4 uni campus' and 2 college campus'!! Massive student population considering the size of both places.
I also went to chelt hmv and was rudely told to go to birmingham, Manchester or London for my discount card! :-( thanks hmv!
I then went and ordered my stuff from play.com for same price (no discount but I shall avoid hmv at all costs from now on!)0
