Credit card surcharges for oil deliveries and payment terms?

As much as I detest the LPG supplier I am currently with to their credit they do allow me to pay by credit charge with no additional surcharge and I get 30 days to pay after the delivery is made.
I will be converting to oil in the summary and wondered if existing oil users can confirm:
1) Is it the norm for domestic oil suppliers to add a surcharge if paying by credit card? Or does it very much vary by supplier?
2) When do you actually pay for the delivery - before or after delivery? If after delivery how long do you get to pay (14 days, 30 days)?
Of course my motive for paying by CC is to get cashback / rewards and its nice to get at least one month of interest free credit before feeling the pain!
Thanks in advance!

We buy oil
Some suppliers charge for credit cards, others don't.We switched suppliers because of this and a snotty letter they sent out to us.
The one we use now does not charge and the terms are 30days.
Just ask what the terms are when you get a quote from them.Always ask if they can do any better on the price.Shop around for prices as the price of oil fluctuates and one supplier may have stock left at a lower price than others. We always ask our supplier if they can price match if we get a cheaper quote.0 -

Here card surcharges are not an issue ( NI) but we get " discount " if we settle the bill in seven days
I've Ordered oil online and taken the online ordering discount then payed by cheque on delivery and that's the price I've paid. Rang up to pay by debit card and been given the further early payment discount. All a bit weird and unscientific but I'm so not complaining
Btw we have more suppliers here then on the mainland so prices are lower and there's more room for discount. Still we all ring around and negotiate the best price we can.0 -
my supplier doesn't charge for card payments, although there are some that do - so remember to ask. i also arrange deliveries for my parents and they're actually on a monthly payment scheme with my usual supplier (dependant on price - but have been the best for a long time now). they pay monthly to spread the cost over the year - and they get interest on it too which is great. i prefer to pay as and when on my card to get my points! they take the payment a day or so after delivery, but bear in mind that some suppliers take the payment when you place the order no matter how long before you get the delivery (ie be careful if you place the order towards the end of a month but don't have it delivered until the next month as it could be your c/card bill sooner than you were expecting - i've been caught out on that one before!).0
