Hi all,
Hope someone can help, I'm going to italy later in the year. Applying for passports now, is it worth the risk of booking flights for sep now? Or best to wait until passports here?
Also when is best time between now and sep to get euro's at best exchange rate - is it hit and miss or is it possible to buy at an optimum time?
thanks in advance

wordsfan,
as long as you envisage no problems getting your passports, you should be fine to book your flights whenever you feel the time is right for you. However rule of thumb with most fligts is the further in advance you can book a flight, the better price it will be. However, as always, there can be exceptions.
An regarding currency, i think you answered your own question. it's really hit & miss, and one day the Euro will go up, and go down the next. But be wary of these that will take your money, and offer a gauranteed 'rate' in the future, as you will see from these forums that many have had their fingers burnt by this.
Regards

Have used the travelmoney checker to find out who is offering the best exchange rate for Euros for collection - Thomson / Tesco are joint second at 1.148 - phoned my local Thomson store, quoted Tesco rate and they have offered 1.15!
Well worth phoning - they have confirmed they will better any quotes received on the day.0
