Assume that the man is not claiming jsa. The poster has stated that she will sort out lone parent benefits perhaps to her own detriment. If he agrees to become a full time house husband would that do the knockers, out there?

I gave up a job earning over £20,000pa to claim disability benefits etc. I am on a lower income, but overall with reduced expenses I am no worse off!
Thanks for that, I greatly appreciate your willingness to claim benefits rather than working.

Let me pose a question. What do you think of the hippy travelling about in a camper van surfing and so on spending his own savings? Is this lifestyle acceptable?

So long as theyre not claiming benefits and not driving their beat up pile of cr4p in front of me , sounds great.

Why are so many people against him not wanting to work?

Perhaps because some of us think that a man shouldn't be sponging off a woman with disabilities who is working herself? (I would also say this if the genders were reversed.)

What do you need childcare for if he doesn't want to work?

Exactly what I was going to ask. If he is not prepared to work then you dont need childcare, he should look after your child. You may find if you try and claim working tax credit with a child care element they will want to know why your partner doesnt look after your child.

My question is why would you want to risk being worse off so he can move in if he is not prepared to contribute to your household???

Yes, if the household can support itself then there is no requirement for everyone to work. Otherwise, everyone who is fit to work should be trying to.

Maybe, but last time I checked that didn't qualify you for benefit.
