Partner Moving In

I have recently reconciled with my partner and I would like him to move in with me.
Currently I'm on lone parent benefits which will obviously need to change, however my partner doesn't work and I'm concerned about the financial implications. Could anyone advise me on what we may be entitled to?
I work 3 days a week, 20 hours with an annual income of approx 14000
He doesn't work and does not want to at the moment
Our 8 month old will be going to nursery 2 days a week. I understand that childcare will not be paid for due to one of us being home
I receive DLA
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!

He "doesn't want to work at the moment" and that's fine with you?0

He doesn't work and does not want to at the moment
How does he propose to contribute to the household financially?
You will loose your single parent benefits. DLA will be unaffected.
I'd be askign some probing questions if I were you.

i am not one to judge but he cant have the attitude he doesnt want to work at the moment
i dont want to work either but its the only way to pay rent, bills, afford nice things etc. i would make him work, lazy.
like dseventy said, how is he going to contribute?? scrounging off you?
anyway rant over check https://www.entitledto.com0 -
You can identify your entitlements on the Turn2us online benefit calculator.
Can you work full time and can he look after the kid seeing as you could earn 18.5k - he has an aversion to contributing towards contributing towards supporting the household and it would save the nursery fees?0 -
What do you need childcare for if he doesn't want to work?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

Maybe he intends to be a househusband? Lots of women do it while their partners work, so why not the other way round?
To the OP, you will be expected to support him, afaik, the only Benefit he will possibly be entitled to is Child Benefit (he can claim it instead of you).(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
Why do you need nursery for two days a week if one parent will be home? Given a family of three will stuggle to survive on one part time wage it makes no sense to pay for childcare that is not needed.
As for "he doesnt want to work" - i'm afraid he'd have been long gone months ago.0 -
If your partner wants to move in he should be expected to contribute to the household either by working or being a "house husband" and looking after the child while you work. I would most certainly not allow someone to move in with me who "didn't want to work" or look after our child - he wants the life of riley while you bring home the bacon!
As you recieve DLA I am unsure of this but you may have to up your hrs to 24 to be entitled to any working tax credit from april due to the new budget.Daughters Sealed Saving Pot - start them young :money: £90 :T0 -
