  • Hi,

I'm on page 4 at present so please bear with me if that has already been suggested.

Could you not say to your employer that you have ALREADY changed your bank and if they can not guarantee to pay in to your new a.c, that they pay you by cheque for this one month?

If you emphasise to them that it will cause you problems (don't go in to detail) for you to not have the money on the right date, surely they can arrange something.....

Good luck - I feel for you....
  • Hi Steve..

Yeah thread is getting rather long, but it has been great for me :)

If I can get new account number before the 23rd then I'll be ok,....... saying that I'm only one month behind with bank credit card....... but then again would ideal want to have moved account before they get my letter.....

  • You get yourself off to bed for a good night's sleep - Seems like you've had a pretty torrid weekend.....

It's good to see that you're getting everything under control though.

I did notice that whenever anything is suggested, you appear to be right on the case, checking it out on the 'net.,, good for you.

For every small change that you make, as everyone on here has said, just think about how you're working towards your goal.

    Keep smilin'

  • Thanks Steve..

I'm determined to get on top of things, and I want to get started as soon as.......

And took your advice and changed signature ;)

Think I will sleep tonite, it's been a busy weekend!

  • Hiya

    An update of today.........

Posted all my letters offering my creditors £1 token payment (haven't posted the letter to my bank's credit card), emailed cahoot, they then left me two voicemail message, was sh*tting calling them.

Anyway got home from work and called them, the girl was really nice however, they won't expect token payment. She said that they can't do anything just now cos I've only missed one payment, but I've to call them back with Payplan reference number.

I'd have to be on a debt management plan for cahoot to consider accepting reduced payments...... feel better for talkin to them, however, my account isnt too much of a mess with them just now so they'll start chasing me soon.... have to get courage to answer the phone to them, instead of listening to voicemail

Also...... spoke to someone re combining mortgage and secrue loan.... there is no way I can do this....and its cos of the car.....its taking up too much of my income....

And....... soz, not going to go on much longer...... haven't heard about new bank account yet, if I have new account number by wednesday then I can get my wage paid in, but I don't think my bank will act that fast anyway, I've only missed one payment to that credit card.

when I get paid I'll change car insurance, saving £26 a month, and I told my boss today that I am freezing my pension, that's another £50 in my pocket.... although it will come off salary this month..

One last thing....... I'm going to end up with a hump back...cos I've been slumped over this laptop for days :rotfl:

    DC...

PS.....A HUGE thanks for everyone's help, don't think I would have acted otherwise :smileyhea

DebtCollector - I've just read right through this and would like to wish you well in your task.

The first step is realising how bad the situation has become, and you seem determined enough to sort things out.

Keep your chin up, and keep coming back

    Well Done ((((DC))):T

Hi DC have read through this thread. Take a minute to read your opening page of this thread, there was a person in full panic mode not knowing what to do. Then look at page 6 of your thread, there is a person who is taking back control and is gaining in confidence through doing so.

WELL DONE, what a great change in only a few days.

I know that you have done a statement of affairs, but could I ask, for the low wage you are on, what do you do? The reason I ask is that there are several sites on the web, where you can do eg mystery shopping assignments, fill in surveys (to save up points for vouchers), or answer questions, all of which would generate some additional income. Do you have anything you can ebay.

With regards to your car, have a look at https://www.freecycle.org this is a website where people in your local area offer things they don't want FREE to a good home. There have been cases where people have offered CARS for free (though would need tax and maybe mot). So it might be worth a look for a cheap car. They also offer all sorts of other things which might help you.

What age is your other child? I would tell them what you are going through, they might understand and want to help. They may already be worried that 'something' is wrong, and it may be a relief to know that it is only (ha ha) money they have to be worried about.

The very best of luck and well done again

    Hi there DC,

Well done on taking such big proactive steps to sort yoiur situation out. I've got no more advice to offer I'm afraid, it's all been said already, but just wanted to say Good Luck and keep up the good work! You've made a fantastic start!
For the record, I too would tell your children, and seriously look into the selling the house option.
