why do you want a tri-band to call Canada ??? You don't need one to call from this country. I suggest you may need a triband if you go over there, though....

Your granddad can call Canada for 1/2P/minute (landline % mobile) using 18185 see link: http://www.18185.co.uk/index2.php

    Hope this helps him.

If you are going to be using the mobile phone whilst you are in Canada then you need a tri-band phone at least, quad band even better.

However as the UK only uses 900Mhz and 1800Mhz on GSM if you are sitting at home or walking around in the UK or virtually any country other than the North American continent and some parts of South America, then you only need a standard dual band phone, as the band it uses depends on what network and what country you are in when using the phone. It has nothing to do with where you are calling.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!
