Antiperspirant

Hello, sorry if this is the wrong forum.
I am reducing my outgoings on toiletries lately, and I've found cheap substitutes that are just as good for almost everything BUT antiperspirant.

I usually use roll-on type as I find it actually works, but open to using any type really.

I can't find cheaper than £1 for a 50ml bottle, which lasts maybe a week or two. Shower gel I can get for 10p that lasts the same time or a bar of soap. Shaving cream and blades the same, etc. But antiperspirant is a !!!!!! to find cheap it seems.

Anyone here got the same problem and found some cheap stuff?

  • I use nivea roll on... lasts 4 weeks a bottle, and I always buy them when they are under £1 a bottle and stock up! I find the cheaper versions don't work for me!

Sometimes I find the more expensive brands last longer because you use less... I find this works for us :D

Saying that my DH insists on using basic antiperspirant and it works really well for him!

    Hiya :)

There's a short thread on Health&Beauty about anti-persp. It has a few recommendations, although no prices are mentioned so you'll need to do a bit of research...

    Good luck :)

:) Hi there, we have a chain of chemists called Savers (I think they're national) which have loads of big name brands at well under £1 for 50ml, usually 69-79p.

:) Poundland currently has 2 Imperial Leather deos for £1 (50ml)

    Hope this was some help.........

Hi, I use supermarket basic or value, depending on whether you go to Tesco or Sainsburys, I'm sure Asda and Morrisons do their own range.

These are around 40p a can.

During the summer :o its not good enough, so I go one brand up to supermarket own brand which works fine, these are about 20p a can more.

Otherwise, if I can find 2 for £ as noted above, then I'd buy a brand, otherwise, not worth any more.

If it helps, I beleive this is in the correct forum, as you want a better priced alternative.

The Beauty Forum is money saving on expensive products, which are very good and well worth the money, which isn't quite the same thing as OS money saving.

I use any roll on and they nearly all work ok for me. I use the Cien ones from Lidl and they are def less than £1. Prob no more than 69p. Or the imperial leather ones for 2 for £1 in Pshop are ok. Also every now and then Sainsburys have the big brands like Nivea or Dove etc down to half price which makes it less than 80p so I usually stock up then.

But they are only deoderants aren't they - not antiperspirants?

I had thought about getting one of them for OH as he ruins his shirts with the amount of roll-on he uses :( - but was under the impression that they don't actually prevent perspiration, only the smell :o.

ETA - We also use Cien, supermarkets own, etc. I never pay £1.

Worth a try in any case - I find them brilliant even in summer :)

Not sure whether it's still on or not, but if you've got a Boots advantage card, the acm was giving out vouchers for a third off antiperspirants and deodorants, it was possible to get several of these vouchers.

The week before last, Dove antiperspirant was on half price offer and the voucher took a third off the full price, so so Toiletries and Boots and Grabbit thread ladies are all stocked with Dove anti persp at 35p a can!

Might be worth seeing if the vouchers are still being given out and see if there's any other brand on offer. Check the price at the till before buying to see if the same reduction applies!

There was a similar bargain Dove deal/glitch this time last year too, still using those up atm actually!
