Advice needed, please. Sold an item on Ebay but do not want to post it.

Hello, I need advice, please. I sold a book on Ebay to the person who complained and argued with me the postal charges and said she bid on it by mistake. I said:" Fine. Don't worry, I will relist it, you don't have to pay. Or maybe someone else will buy it (as there were several watchers)". So the listing ended and she was the only one who bid. I raised the case to cancel it because "the buyer changed his/her mind or decided not to buy it". The next thing I know, the case returns to me as the buyer did not agree to it and PAID for the book. Now, I don't want to post it to her as she was rather rude during our conversations and surely will leave a negative feedback, which I don't want, of course. What shall I do, please? Can I just refund her purchase and that will be it?
I love this forum and thank everybody who contributes to it!

  • I don't think refunding her purchase will prevent her from leaving an unfavourable feedback. Would it work if you just emailed or contacted her directly & explained the miscommunication? But don't mention anything about not leaving negative feedback. Who knows?

She reported me to Ebay as the Non-Selling Seller.

That could be nasty as if that is recorded on your seller metrics and she leaves a neg and poor stars then you may well fall into the under performing seller category and lose out badly in Best match visibility.

I sent her a polite email, explaining that I spilled coffee while packing it and the book is ruined, I apologized and said that I reimbursed her payment in full. What more can one want? I am totally shocked.

I don't know why you are shocked to be honest. Buyer did pay, many do take a while and the excuse 'the item was damaged and can't be sent' is now so misused (as it was in your case) that she almost certainly did not believe you, hence the complaint.

Yes, well... Obviously, there was no way out. She was horrible and rude and nobody made her buy it. I hoped she'd leave me alone but she did not stop.

Not sure you can decide not to sell to someone you entered into a contract with just because you didn't like their manner. I would expect a negative feedback from them.
  • Should of sent it and if she left negative feedback disputed that and used her rude emails to support it.
