Compared 2 weeks ago and thought I'd be ditching EON for Scottish Power but now I see BG are cheapest. But cannot use Quidco with BG...Stuck now.

Why not just go with the supplier that gives you the greatest overall saving? If BG are cheaper by a margin greater than the Quidco SP cashback then why are you stuck?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • I done the same as you by using the comparison sites and british gas came out the best for me as well.
Seen as no cashback was available from quidco or topcashback i decided to ring british gas to get a quote for my energy from them.
They have given me a £100 credit on my gas bill once i have been with them for 12 months as i am a returning to them.:j
    I am well happy now.

Strange where's BritishGas WebSaver 11 gone? Just repeated my price comparison from yesterday and they've disappeared?

Must just be something to do with the comparison site as it is still on the british gas website and it is a new tariff.http://www.britishgas.co.uk/products-and-services/energy/our-tariffs/websaver.html

Just checked uSwitch and it's still there for me. which comparison site are you using? SP were coming up as the cheapest in my region (although there was only a £2 difference between the top 3 of SP, BG and E.ON).

No, ok now. Was using moneysupermarket. OK with uswitch. WebSaver 11 Dual Fuel looks good. Will ring them up on Wednesday to ask if they can do us a "deal". Thanks.

  • Hi Guys,

I just switched through quidco, using uswitch to the British Gas Websaver 11 tariff, uswitch shows a £22 cashback offer.

But as jessmist said above, ring them and (possibly) get a £100 reduction.

Sounds like you have been sold Standard Energy with the £100 Credit offer, This deal is not as cheap as any the Websavers, However I have always wondered what would happen if you accepted to switch over the phone then immediatly change to websaver once you have your supply with BG.

When I was with BG before I used this site I signed up to a £40 Credit offer and then when I learned about Websaver 3 I think it was I did get creditted with Money.

You better check your welcome pack.

You are right i was put on the standard tariff to qualify for the £100 discount but when i get my supply start date all i have to do is phone them or go online and switch to the websaver 11 tariff.
So i will never actually get charged for any usage on the standard tariff. But i still get my £100 credit to my gas bill after 12 months
I also received confirmation of the £100 pound offer in writing a couple of days after i phoned british gas to arrange switching to them.
