You enter your passport details when you do online check in.
Yes, you do have to print out a boarding pass for all flights before turning up at the airport. You can check in 15 days before your flight. When you check in for your outbound, you will be offered to check-in for your inbound flight at the same time, if it is within 15 days. If you are away for longer you will need to find a web cafe or similar whilst you are away.0 -

And make sure they have access to a good quality printer too, to print the boarding pass's out.

I did read somewhere that with Ryanair it is sometimes possible to do online check-in more than 15 days beforehand - so if anyone is off on a longer holiday or something it might just be worth having a quick look as to whether online check-in has opened early for that flight.0

Also make sure you dont print them double sided and that they are full sized. If there is more than one of you going I would advise you print 2 sets and carry 1 set each. That way the odds of 2 people forgetting/loosing them is reduced.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Correct, I had that option a while back.0 -
My recollection is that if your home printed boarding pass doesn't scan (because your printer's naff) you'll be sent back to the check-in desk for a free replacement to be printed. I believe this is the case to cover FR's back because the 2D barcode can be rendered useless on an inkjet printed piece of paper that catches some raindrops on the way into the terminal.0
