    It's not clear if it would cost 1p to send or recieve emails, as any spam you get (which could number 100's per day) would cost you loads.

    I think that Bod fluffed his lines on 10 O'clock Live as I get the impression he was trying to re-rasie his idea about text messages.

    This suggestion doesn't go far enough. There should be a speaking tax of 1p per sentence. Gobshytes would then pay their fair share.

    Forgetting tax etc, I have never understood why emails are free. Seems someone missed out big time when it all started. Personally I would not find too much of a problem with 1p each. It's only the spammers that would suffer.

    They're not free. Mine cost me £11.50 p/m.
