My wife and I are both looking for new deals and are looking at some offers we've had from Virgin.

Anyone any thoughts on how they compare with best deals elsewhere which I'd get Quidco with?

Blackberry Curve 8520 250 texts, 50 minutes, 1GB web £10.21

Sony Experia X8 same but 500mb web £10.21

JTC Desire unlimited texts, 200 mins, 1gb web £20.43 (wife v keen on this!)

I know it depends what you want etc but would appreciate advice.

Thanks

  • Hi
My two contracts with virgin were about to end. Called them today and told them wanted to cancel as had seen better deals in carphone warehouse. Got Samsung Galaxy S with 600 mins, unlim txts and 1gb internet for £20 and Htc Desire with 200 mins, unlim txts and 1gb internet for £15. They did ask me if had Virgin Media, told them dont have virgin tv in my area so no (which is true). This was first offer made to me after said that wanted to cancel, was happy with the deals so took them but maybe if good at haggling would bring it down. I know my dh workmate called last week to upgrade (he didn't threaten to cancel) got exact same two phones only he is paying £25 for Galaxy S and £20 for HTC and he does have Virgin Media.
    Yearly Grocery Budget - £100.77/ £3500. January Treats Budget - £11.80 / £100.

    Thanks for help.

Yes, we have Virgin media at home and these are the offers we've been given.

Just wondered how they compared with what else is out there - really good for customers or just marketing hype?

I would avoid Virgin Mobile like the plague! I am in dispute with them at the moment due to not being able to make/recieve calls or texts from where I work, an issue that has happened for the last three weeks. I am about 12 months into a 24 month contract and they wont allow me to cancel the contract, or even issue the required 'deadlock' letter that Ofcom have suggested I need to get the contract cancelled. They actually had the gall to suggest that because my phone works at home (where I dont need it) I am tied into the contract regardless of whether it works at my place of work (where I do need it and spend about 2 thirds of my waking time Monday to Friday)

Thanks Woody. I'd imagine they'd all try it on like that if they can. I've been with 3 for a few years and their service isn't great!

As Pearsoneys says, definitely have a look at the Virgin Mobile Retentions Thread to see how others in your situation got on.

I've been a Virgin Mobile & Media customer for several years and after much persuasion and threats to change network earlier this month, managed to get a HTC Desire with 600 minutes, 3000 Virgin to Virgin minutes, 1gb internet and unlimited texts for £14.53 per month.

I'd wanted a Desire for months and this deal beat any others I'd found by a mile. It's an amazing phone, very pleased with it, I'd really recommend it.

Good luck and let us know how you get on! :)
