I have a lloyds overdraft and recently it has been getting out of control,i have moved around a bit recently due to housing problems and im currently sleeping on a friends sofa. I visited lloyds 4 weeks ago to ask them to close my account,so i can pay off my existing balance of £100(50 over my overdraft limit). They said they couldnt close my account untill it was paid off. I spoke to an adviser at lloyds and she told me to phone customer advice, which i did and all they could do was stop the £10 a day charge for 6 months. I have no job am new to the area i live and i cant afford these payments,i wrote to lloyds telling them everything and ive heard nothing from them. Ive run out of ideas now and i dont know what to do,can anyone help me!!! kitkat004

Do you have a job?
Are you on benefits?
If they have stopped the charges for 6 months, can you really not find £50 over 6 months?
That's only £7-odd per week,0 -
i dont have a job and im not on benefits am new to the area and have no support.they are still adding £5 charges everyday so no unfortunatly i cant afford to even if i had money id be paying off money and within days they would add it bac on again, feels like i cant win0

If you are unemployed - why are you not claiming JSA?0

Hi write a letter to them explaining circumstances, telling them how much you can afford/or not ?? and pay that sum on a set date each month . You could also ask them to freeze any further charges. I have recently delt with Lloyds myself and I have managed to come to an arangement with them.
Hope this helps.
P.S Record all mail posted.

I recently wrote to lloyds explaining my circumstances and have had no reply. I sent this letter 4 weeks ago. You need a postal address to claim benefits and i dont have a reliable one to use so i cant have benefits.thanx anyway.0

There is both a £5 and £10 unplanned overdraft daily fee with Lloyds, they will charge this a max of 8 times a month and the value depends on how much overdrawn you are - have a read of this http://www.lloydstsb.com/media/lloydstsb2004/pdfs/banking_charges_brochure.pdf , page 4. As others have mentioned, surely you are entitiled to some type of benefits to assist you?0 -
You have to ring the Customer Support Unit.
They will help you. They help people with financial difficulty. It is a free phone number. Ring them tomorrow morning. They can help you get out of your overdraft and come up with a repayment plan.
You have to ring them asap.
There is a £5 daily useage fee. If you go overdrawn by over £10 but less than £25.0
