I'd like to say you must have been in the same one as us - but I fear not. It is the grimest place I have never been. Never have I been so pleased to get home. I felt like I needed a damn good scrub after going there. 1st and last time.0 -
i also went to southport for a bargain break with the sun a few years ago, found it to be a grey, grim and depressing place. there were several guests drunk (yes at 2pm) fighting and being raucous near reception, whilst their kids were left to their own devices aka running riot and causing mayhem.
i got my key and found out that my "apartment" was nowhere near you could park and that was the final straw as i was on my own with a young child and couldnt carry everything without doing several trips.
i didnt even go and open the apartment door, got back in my car drove to reception and handed the keys back.
i drove home and my son thought we that had been our holiday bless!! good job he was so young and didnt know any better!
i hope everyone who books has a better experience than i had. i always go on the sun holidays to haven sites and cant praise them highly enough! :rotfl:Sealed Pot Member 1269

Thanks to OP for this . I have just booked two weekend breaks for five of us for £53 per break , the offer is actualy based on four sharing a budget room , whilst I can agree that these are very "basic" holidays they are what you make of them , use it as a base and enjoy yourself - it is what you make of it. we have been to pontins several times and the kids always have a great time , which means we can relax a little as well.
Thanks again OP:beer::jDoing my bit :jCompetition prizes won 2011 ( still waiting )0 -
Gaz, while it is basic and you 'get what you pay for there is a line when you are greeted with a bed held up with bricks and stains that - well - god knows what was on that mattress. However cheap you expect a decent level of cleanliness. I think even a pig would have been disgusted!!0

we stayed at camber sands last year and had a basic room whilst i must admit it was not top ofthe range it was by no means dire and dirty, just very basic. we took our own bed linen anyway and for the double bed we asked for an extra mattess as it was very thin.
we did just use it as a base though as camber sands beach is lovely, we also used the swming pool and the crazy golf area but that was it, our children do not enjoyed the evening entertainment ect as its not thier cup of tea or ours and its always far too loud lol..
if we went again we would probbly take our own blow up bed just incase after som of the comments i have read lol
mybe we were just lucky and got an ok roomnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
We stayed at Camber sands many years ago and it was dirty then. Also would not recommend Haven, last year stayed (Orchard) there and it was awful bonfires next to caravans and dogs wondering all over the site. Also stayed at Haven in Cornwall and we all got SCABIES from the beds. Believe me you dont want that.0

I'd fear for my childs health, if we ever went on another pontins site. Never again, not even as a visitor! If it ain't reduced, i don't buy it! :j0
