Dixons - Lack of After Sales Service

** LET THIS BE A WARNING TO ANYONE CONSIDERING MAKING A PURCHASE AT DIXONS, CURRYS OR PC WORLD **

I purchased a LG 37" LCD TV from Dixons online in August, 5 weeks after having the TV I noticed a crack in the casing at the front, I immediatley called Dixons to inform them that a crack has appeared in the casing (the location of the crack would rule out any accidental damage). After being passed backwards and forwards from department to department, Dixons told me that as the fault was not found within 28 days of delivery there is nothing they are prepared to do about it.

Since then I have noticed another crack appearing in the same location but on the opposite side of the TV, once again I called them asking for someone to come out and inspect the TV as I believe that there is a manufacturing fault that must be causing the cracks to appear, once again I was fobbed off, with you must contact the Tech Guys, contacted the Tech Guys who said that I must contact LG, I told them that under consumer law that I must deal with the retailer Dixons, they told me no I must deal with LG, eventually I caved in a contacted LG, who suprise, suprise, told me that I must deal with Dixons.

I am now at a loss I've paid near £1000 for a TV that is not even 3 months old and has cracks appearing in the casing and no one will do anything about it.

If anyone has any advice on how to get Dixons to listen to me I would be most greatful. In the mean time unless you want to go through all the upset I have been through over the past 2 months I would strongly advise that you do not buy anything from any Dixons group website or store. There after sales service is a complete waste of time.

Go into the store and refuse to move until you have seen someone from management who will help you -even better take the TV with you?!

It is Dixons that you need to deal with (or whatever they call themselves these days - and am sure some people on these boards have great names for them from the amount of complaints about them on here!) so it may be worth getting in touch with them again. If you struggle get onto your local Trading Standards and enlist their help

If you still fail to get anywhere with them you could always go down the route for the Small Claims court - or say thats where you are heading

    Good Luck with it!

  • you purchased the item from dixons it is in the 12 months g they have to deal with you write to them stateing your problem give the 14 days to deal with the problem if they do not state you will make a claim for the full amount of the tv as they sold you unsatisfactory goods in your local county court plus costs .
if you dont here from them do that dont bluff you will win they will settle or you will win becouse they fail to defend .
  • It is normally the sale staff that deal with faulty items but due to having to meet ridiculous targets they will avoid after sales care if they can

The best thing to do is demand to speak to the manager if he is useless threaten him with trading standards/small claimscourt. tell him you wont disapear as an abover poster as said refuse to leave the store

They are still part of the Dixons Stores Group, based in Hemel Hempstead. Some daft bint decided to say it was nothing to do with them, until I slowly and carefully pointed out that on the frontside of their answering service, it says "Press 1 for items brought from Currys Online, press 2 for items brought from Dixons online...."
So just take the whole shebang into a Currys with a Mastercare section( or Tech Guys, or whatever they call themselves these days), with your paperwork, and dump that baby on them!

Currys wont do anything with it as they are seperate chains run by the same company now

its like if you bought something at argos and it was faulty you wouldn't take it back to homebase even though they are both run by home retail group, would you

you will have to deal with the website or helpline numbers as all currys staff are told not to deal with dixons online products or problems

Thanks for all of your comments guy's.

I am trying to claim for the repair via my credit card company as I have written to Dixons and got no joy, threatend to take them to the small claims court which didnt seem to phase them.

If I dont get anywhere with my credit card company, I may have to go down the route of court, the problem I have is that when I ordered the TV, I found a discount code on the MSE Forums which gave me 10% discount, I later found out this code was a special code for NHS employees, the problem is that I am not an NHS employee and am worried that they may pick up on this and turn the tables on me for fraudulently claiming the discount.
